“Irish people spent their internet usage searching for ‘News’, ‘Weather’, ‘Google’ and ‘RIP’.”
Yep, that about sums us up tbh.

I had a really good conversation with a hotelier this morning, and it was eye-opening.
He said that the crash in 2008 almost closed them, but they struggled through.
When they had to close in 2020 For covid, they lost their wedding business,
He said last year was a disaster for tourists.
He also said that power and gas is 4 times more expensive than 2018.
He has come to the conclusion that he would get more money and make more profit from his 96 rooms by allowing them to be used for asylum seekers.
He said he can close his bar and restaurant as they were doing badly anyway, "as no one has any money"
He said that he is looking at closing his leisure centre as the energy costs to heat the pool is mind-blowing, Aside of 12 full time staff required to run the facility.
He said he can drop his staff from 73 in the hotel to 0 as the state will install managers and security.
He said his Insurance is gone through the roof, which will now transfer to the state operator.
And best of all the Hotel will be refreshed in 5 years time to basically a new hotel.
He has signed the contracts and as he put it will spend some time on the golf course, some holidays with the wife and will reevaluate in 5 years time.
He said that he expects many more hotels will do the same as the tourist industry is dying now, and the word is out that Ireland is unsafe.

@fasc1nate In 1995, U.S. and Canadian wildlife officials released 14 wolves in Yellowstone National Park. No one expected the miracle that the wolves would bring.
In the 1970s, North Korea ordered 1,000 Volvo cars from Sweden, as a response to its emerging economy. The cars were shipped and delivered but North Korea just didn't bother paying and ignored the invoice. To this day, the bill remains unpaid, making it the largest car theft in history.
This is terrific. Nice one Groove Armada. The Kings of Leon coming over as total fucking ham shankers who absolutely detest each other and are taking their enforced proximity out on the universe. https://t.co/FIaV5kUVzY
