In breaking news, Chris Packham, President of the RSPCA, and Caroline Lucas, Vice President, have both resigned from their roles in Britain’s largest animal charity, following our groundbreaking exposé of the RSPCA Assured scheme, which approves the farming and slaughter of animals on UK farms.

Chris said: “I can’t watch another round of that footage and then see them do nothing about it and not listen to Caroline and I when we’re asking them straight questions and getting no bloody answers.”

Caroline Lucas explained their decision:

“For many months now, Chris and I have been raising concerns with the RSPCA leadership about their Assured Schemes, and have had numerous fruitless meetings with them where we urged them to act.

We were met with delays, defensiveness, distractions and the promise of yet more meetings, rather than urgent action.

I very much hope that, under new leadership, the RSPCA will once again become the beacon of animal protection that it had been for 200 years.”

RSPCA scandal unfolds as we drop Part 2 of our RSPCA Assured investigations...

Determined to uncover the reality of “humane” slaughter, we placed covert cameras in four RSPCA Assured slaughterhouses. Despite their claims of “high welfare,” our cameras prove there’s nothing humane about what happens behind these RSPCA-approved abattoir doors.

The RSPCA cannot continue to defend the appalling conditions repeatedly discovered at its farms and slaughterhouses. While this harmful scheme continues to mislead the public about welfare in animal agriculture, this suffering will continue.

We approached several prominent animal rights campaigners to speak out regarding our new findings on Assured sites. And as Moby told us,“If an organisation’s goal is to prevent cruelty to animals, it seems like there’s nothing more cruel than leading them to slaughter.”

Paul will be detained in Nuuk until August 15 to allow the Danish Ministry of Justice time to decide whether to extradite him to Japan on an international arrest warrant. He could face spending the rest of his life in a Japanese prison.
