As I leave #Ukraine, I am deeply moved by the bravery and resilience of its people. They have survived loss of loved ones, devastation and daily hardships. The @UN remains firm in its call for an immediate ceasefire as a starting point toward a just, sustainable peace.
I began my visit to Chișinău today with a productive meeting with Prime Minister @AlexMunteanuMD. We discussed the current challenges and opportunities facing Moldova and what more @UN can do to support the country.
It was a pleasure to meet with Foreign Minister @MihaiPopsoi. We exchanged views on our shared priorities, including regional peace and security developments, and the cooperation between Moldova and @UN.
Was inspired to hear from women and young peacebuilders dedicated to advancing gender equality and building a peaceful and prosperous future for all Moldovans. Women’s role in political decision-making is crucial. My colleagues and I remain committed to supporting their work.
At the 4th International Summit on #FoodSecurity in Kyiv, I spoke on behalf of @UN SG @antonioguterres about the war’s devastating impact on global food supply chains and our efforts to advocate for safe navigation in the Black Sea. The only lasting solution is to end the war.
Pleased to meet Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine @taraskachka and discuss how @UN can support Ukraine in addressing its complex needs amid ongoing war. Strengthening recovery, social cohesion and the role of women in public life remain a shared priority.
Appalled by overnight attacks on Ternopil and Kharkiv, #Ukraine. Over 20 people killed and almost a hundred injured, including children. Attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law. They are unacceptable and must end immediately.
Productive meeting with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister @andrii_sybiha. We discussed recent developments and shared priorities, including ways @UN can further support efforts towards a just and lasting peace.
Deeply moved by my visit to the Martyrology of Children memorial in Kyiv, #Ukraine today. 664 children have perished in this war. We must do everything possible to protect children in times of war, uphold their right to peace and safeguard their future.
Privileged to begin a trip to Ukraine today by meeting inspiring women’s and youth NGOs in Kyiv. Their vision and dedication embody the strength of Ukraine’s civil society, which is critical to shaping a resilient and peaceful future.
While in Cyprus, I was inspired to meet with women’s groups. Women’s participation in peacemaking efforts is not just a matter of fairness and equality, it is smart peacemaking. I urge the leaders to engage with them and other civil society reps and incorporate their views.
Two footballers on the panel: @khalida_popal of Afghanistan and George Kipiani of Georgia. Started with inclusivity in sports and ended with a passionate plea for more inclusivity for women in peace processes. “Nothing will be taken from you manhood if you make space for women!”
We’re excited to announce that @Alhan_islam will perform at our session on dismantling patriarchal power structures at #ActionDays! Her insights will be invaluable in shaping the conversation on achieving sustainable peace and inclusivity.

@JuanManSantos@elbegdorj Dolores Hernandez, a local peace activist from Mexico, talks about pragmatism in approaching conflict and violence. Important to understand that trust is gained and not given. Stop pretending and maybe you gain trust. #peacefulfuture#youthforpeace
