1. Bike lanes aside, 'the fundamental principle of our democratic constitutional order' is being used to deny cities local democracy. It doesn't matter as much when there's good faith at Queen's Park, but Ford's fixation on imposing suburban priorities on urban areas is despotic.

By North American standards, Mississauga is an objectively great place to live. Clean, green, safe, diverse, good skyline, etc. Even the school districts are catching up. But just zoom into these 6-lane roads, and you’ll realize why it’s basically a forested Dubai.

there is nothing that makes this development an attraction. tall residential towers and hotel surrounded by suburban infrastructure, and a mall. the city needs to do more with streetscapes if they ever plan on having an engaging downtown and not just square one.

mississauga planning is so funny because there are 3 full sized parking lots surrounding these new towers and barely 200m away is a cul-de-sac with bungalows. at street level you have blank glass nothing facades and opposite you is a 7 lane stroad. faux urbanism is so lame
