Your right man, we should’ve bulldozed queen w, china town, Kensington, the annex and UfT, so that people from Vaughan don’t have to get into a subway. Toronto shouldn’t aspire to be a world class city with best in class place making, it should be a parking lot for suburbian’s
Toronto has a transit construction cost crisis. $2 million for a half-fence on the platform is unacceptable. Full platform edge doors are evidence-based safety solutions, that prevent delays, and are used around the world. I’ve moved motions at the TTC Board to move forward with the real thing, and I’ll keep pushing.
I’m going to loose my mind. The GENUIS of the TTC is that LOTS of people take buses to the subway. That’s the special sauce of the system. Embarrassing the TTC chair doesn’t know that.
Councillor Jamaal Myers, the TTC chair, has a different view. "I understand where my colleagues are coming from in that we'd like to take transit to transit, however that's just not the reality of where the city is," he says, noting that GO commuter lots are jam-packed each day.
This is a perfect example of one of the reasons we have absurd transit costs. We can only compare ourselves to other Canadian and American agencies such as the MTA, who consistently have some of the worlds highest construction cost. Platform doors in Europe are 10x cheaper.
“he’s using Trump’s threat to annex Canada as a cover to increase military spending to 5% of GDP, not because of Trump’s actual real repeated threat to us, but because he wants to wage war with Russia”
Line 2 has had a brutal week. Three stoppages west of Ossington affecting all of Ward 11. Another track-level incident during rush hour today. We know the solution (platform screen doors) but lack the political will. Torontonians deserve fast, reliable commutes.
Joe Rogan refuses to come to Canada. Now, Andrew Tate refuses to come to Canada.
And you said the Liberal Government doesn't do anything good for Canadians!
David Cochrane: "I never stop to be shocked at how shocked the Americans are at the logical consequences of their actions, 'Can you believe they're not selling our booze after we disrupted all of their core industries?'"
we really need to have a sobering conversation about the timelines and costs behind improvements to our cities. we can do so much better than over 10 years to even start construction on making a street safer and more vibrant.
Fuck this slopulist garbage. When a government gets a majority, they’re supposed to make hard choices with an eye on the long term health of the country. Not “reward” citizens with bullshit gimmicks financed with more debt. Disappointing.

Absolutely terrifying article in The Economist this week about the new multicultural creole dialect emerging in Toronto called “Toronto Mans”
“Much of Toronto Mans is borrowed from the languages of immigrants: from Jamaican patois comes “ah lie” (meaning “right?”) and “two-twos” (“being honest”); from Somali there is “kawal” (to “scam”) and from Arabic “wallahi” (an exclamation, “by Allah”). The roots of others like “crodie” (meaning “brother”) and “gerbert” (meaning “immature”) may well be local.”
