Since it looks like this bird app is on death's doorstep, I'm easy to find on Facebook and I'm jordansmellie on IG. I haven't posted much in recent years, but if you're able to read this, it's bc I still care about staying connected with you; I hope you find me elsewhere.
@umichsieg I know about Ann Arbor and Ypsi, and I definitely had *not* ever heard of Harrisville. I see Ionia switched from partisan to nonpartisan with a 2023 charter amendment; is there still a different fourth city?
@AzRepGillette@stephen_richer I have done that. (A hair under a month, but close enough for this conversation.) What exactly is it that you're trying to communicate?
@RankMIVote 40 is even better than 33! 😉 This is AWESOME to see, and I'm super excited it's finally happening. I will be shoving everybody I know into their nearest town hall!
@TheRealRhllor@jaymboller I'm guessing western Iowa? I grew up in Iowa City and went to Ames for undergrad, and I never ran across this combo until I lived in Kansas City (where people still thought it was odd, but at least had heard of it and knew it was a rural Kansas influence on the city).
@sanchezchica88@samueljrob There were actually two! The original Chinatown was evicted and demolished by Detroit Housing Commission to build the Lodge; MGM Casino stands on top of the rest of the land. A second modern Chinatown was built centered around Peterboro & Cass and was busy, but faded by 1990s.
@umichvoter@ElTrumpista They're polling people who have proactively signed up for their gift-cards-for-online-survey-responses web platform, rather than making contact with Americans for the purpose of a poll. Is that the normal approach these days for pollsters considered reputable?
@kroger@MI_Kroger@KrogerNews This is your Hazel Park (MI) store at 5:57pm on a normal Tuesday: 21 people in line for 5 functioning self-checkouts (1 is broken, 12 more are closed). The line reaches the back of the store. This is how you treat low-income high-minority locations.
@Candace_Parker Iowa State fans are cheering for Drake because they're only 30 minutes apart, TONS of Iowa State fans live in Des Moines, TONS of Drake fans are also Iowa State fans, and there's many decades of good-hearted competitive history between these two basketball teams!
@kroger@MI_Kroger Do you approve of your private property (Hazel Park, MI store) being used to host a group of Christians wandering your parking lot, harassing customers going in/out of your store, obstructing vehicle traffic, and blasting Christian music at a deafening volume?
@DTWeetin Why were the water fountains / water bottle filling stations removed from Evans Terminal, and why hasn't the terminal information map been updated to reflect the fact that non-elite travelers no longer have any access to water? #thirstyonaplane
Twitter has been instrumental in A LOT of liberation movements worldwide. It makes sense that it might be in the world’s richest man’s financial interest to destroy it. Just saying.
@badachie (Hi from Michigan. I followed the Madison clerk with great admiration in 2020, so I guess the algorithm decided I must want more Wisconsin clerk content. No objections here!)
@badachie And ironically, I just today started looking for Election Admin Twitter. I joined Twitter in 2008 solely for professional discussion (diff field), used it personally for years, didn't use it for years, and now that I need professional chat again, it's about to vanish. Dang it.
@ValerieHeruska I literally made this Twitter account in 2008 exclusively so I could participate in #sachat and meet folks in the profession. I only worked in the field for a hot minute, but I still follow lots of the folks here and have continued quietly learning from y'all the whole time.
@QasimRashid I can't believe I've been following you for over a decade. I've learned immensely from you, and have passed that learning on to many others by using it as an educator, a public servant, and a neighbor. I hope this isn't the end of that: you should get an account on Mastodon!
@MCmuckraker Steve, you are a recognizable journalist. Your misinformation has been retweeted nearly 100 times, with who knows how many impressions. This is immensely unprofessional of you. Please delete your tweet; a follow-on comment is insufficient.
Signed, a very tired election official.
