Thinking isn’t trying to squeeze a concept into your pre-existing worldview, or attempting to justify that worldview, or looking for validating data to support it via confirmation bias. Thinking is breaking it down, questioning the structure, examining the parts, removing contradictions, asking yourself why you have that worldview (or belief system) to begin with, and then going beyond it for other possibilities.

"You may not like it, you may revolt against it, but it’s coming. And human thought has invented it. Human thought is limited. But the mechanical intelligence of the computer is going to outstrip man. So what is a human being then? You are following all this? These are facts, not the conclusion of the speaker.

As we pointed out the other day, yesterday or before yesterday, we have talked to many computer experts and all the rest of it. It’s going to revolutionize totally our lives. And when you consider what its capacity is, then we have to ask ourselves — what is a human being to do? It is going to take over all the activities of the brain, most of it. And what happens to the brain then?

Please follow this a little bit. They are concerned about a human being whose occupation is taken over by the computer, by the robot, and so on. Then what becomes of the human? What Spielberg said about Disclosure Day possibly “shaking the foundation of people’s faith” wasn’t about people doubting or questioning the entire dogma. I’ve seen the film. There’s a girl who calls her nun friend asking her about humans being God’s greatest creation after seeing the evidence. The nun says, “…on Earth. God’s greatest creation on Earth.” She then says God wouldn’t create such a vast universe if he only loved one kind of being. That’s the foundation shaking – to get many religious people to consider that we’re not the only intelligent life in the universe.

The film was basically a soft sequel to his miniseries Taken (which was amazing). It wasn’t the best movie he’s done, but it was entertaining. The main underlying theme is empathy, and that we need more of it.

The problem I have, though, is that the story doesn’t criticize the fact that beings are entering the homes of children and luring them away to a ship disguised as a fairy tale house. That’s not excusable or justifiable. That’s trespassing and kidnapping. Even if what these beings are doing is granting them special abilities, it’s done against their will. And if they understand empathy, then they should also understand morality. Morality doesn’t change wherever you are in the universe. It’s a universal law.

Because of this, it can make the film feel kind of psy-oppy, to get us to be accepting of abductions, that it’s all in good faith. No.

While voluntarists are trying to open the eyes of statists so they might see what they're actually supporting and why it's not only unnecessary but evil, debate-me-bro statists are also attempting to indoctrinate other statists to their particular flavor of statism. I miss this era of Dream Theater, when they were still making emotive and melodic prog rock. Their "Six Degrees" album was the last thing that I truly loved. Their new stuff just isn't for me. This song is one of the best things they've done, imo.

Seeing people defend the use of AI in their "creativity" and writing makes me sick. If you want to be good at something, you put in the time and effort to do so. If you want to LOOK like you're good at something, you use AI. It's a cheat, not a tool.

A dictionary is a tool. A thesaurus is a tool. These things help to improve your vocabulary, grammar and understanding of etymology and meaning. They don't do the writing FOR you.

A pen or a paintbrush is a tool. They give texture and style to your art depending on how you use them. Even with digital apps, those tools are still there and serve the same function. They don't make the art FOR you.

AI is a blight on the creative industry, not an improvement.

Most people have a functioning limbic system. In other words, we're capable of empathy. It's almost impossible to fathom that the people we believe have our best interests in mind could possibly have insidious motives. We don't want to consider that. Even when the evidence piles up, we still deny it.

Facing the truth is too painful because it requires looking within, acknowledging that we were wrong. Nobody wants to be wrong. Nobody wants to admit that their entire worldview was false, because that means we have to change how we think and take on a new level of personal responsibility... the very responsibility that we've given away to politicians all our lives, like children.

It's time to grow up and take our power back.
