Pretty funny, 4.8 refuses to make the fake documents we need for testing at work because โcreating a fake document is fraudโ. Does this even if you specifically say itโs for testing the system only. Must be insanely annoying if youโre doing cybersec or biology research
European style mid-rise residential is overrated and residential skyscrapers are underrated. Better shared amenities, better views, less road/street noise, more lifts, more efficient for transport planning, etc. To the extent they create street shading that is a *good* thing
@disco___cat Occasionally will get boy racers making ungodly amounts of noise here on the weekend but the solution to that is judicial rather than construction related
@disco___cat I lived on the fourth storey of a new build 4-over-1 with triple glazing in Europe and it definitely was an issue, much more than the 20-somethingth floor here despite Southbank being a traffic sewer and having a construction site nearby
@luispedrocoelho I also just think thereโs a middleground where you can get the best parts of European urbanism at street level but just build taller (assuming thereโs demand, which there is today on the CBD fringe of most major world cities)
@_colourmeamused Am I in for a culture shock when I finally get Australian friends? Splitting bills extremely common in NZ. Most POS systems support it
the actual problem is that the kickoff times are horrendous for Asia, half of them are at 3am. Probably an issue for FIFA when the best place to watch the games outside the Americas is New Zealand
as if the US isnโt in the same time zone(s) as mexico, argentina, brazil, aka some of the biggest footballing nations on earth. europeans are never beating the eurocentric allegations. legitimately think the world revolves around them
Thereโs something about the American mind that makes them structurally incapable of understanding why Mark Carney won an election landslide or why their hamfisted attempts to intervene in European politics fail. Even the Russians do not have this problem
Maybe itโs partly this but I think thereโs a sort of genuine inability in the US to process that other countries (or continents) have internal variation, domestic politics, etc. This is true even of elites & is reflected in US foreign policy. Civilisational theory of mind deficit
Americans have this odd desire to be the most special and interesting all the time and it pushes them to make ridiculous comparisons like in this post where Europe is treated a single large nation for the purpose of making Americans seem more travelled.
@_colourmeamused I feel like this is less of a selection masterstroke/respect for the best league in the world and more just a reflection of where NZ nationals play their football tho?
youโll hear no disagreement from me that we need more state housing but:
- KO was one of the most important backers of planning reform under the last government
- the landlord lobby is crying in the media *this week* because house prices continue to fall
Mamdani is right!
