One of our 'masterpieces' from the #Moscowsecrets project by @CKABUSK and @OSINTJOURNO: a description and 3D model of the transfer location where the secret 'Metro-2' network connects to Moscow's public metro network. Please like and retweet!

The term Metro-2 (Russian: Метро-2) refers to an extensive secret system of metro tunnels intended (and still in use) for the evacuation of government leaders and high officials in Moscow. The design of the first Metro-2 tunnels dates back to the 1960s. Moscow seriously considered the possibility of a Western nuclear 'first strike' targeting key landmarks such as the Kremlin, the Ministry of Defense, the KGB headquarters, etc. To evacuate essential personnel in the event of such a nuclear attack, underground bunkers were constructed at strategic locations, and tunnels connecting these bunkers were dug.

South of Moscow University lies the Ramenki district. There were plans to develop this entire Ramenki district with impressive government buildings, but due to financial constraints, this plan was never executed. What was implemented, however, was the construction of various underground command bunkers and shelters deep beneath Ramenki. With a depth of 189 meters and a distance of over 8 kilometers from the Kremlin, it was believed that the command bunkers in Ramenki had a sufficient 'survival chance' in the event of a nuclear attack. Under 'Order 10A,' the (large) underground objects 54 and 54a in Ramenki were constructed from 1956 to 1963. We know about the underground construction activities in Ramenki from a 1991 report by the U.S. military titled 'Military forces in transition,' which features a photo of the Ramenki area on page 40, showing at least 4 mine shafts. Using satellite imagery, we have been able to precisely determine what was built where.

However, in the event of a nuclear attack, there was a challenge in reaching the underground facilities in Ramenki safely. While the public Sokolnicheskaya metro line roughly connects the Kremlin to Ramenki, the southernmost section of this metro line runs mostly above ground, and near the 'Moskva' river, it even goes completely above ground, crossing a bridge over the river. This was not a safe way to reach Ramenki in the event of a nuclear attack. Another problem was that, during a nuclear attack, tens of thousands of Moscow residents would likely seek shelter in public metro stations and tunnels, rendering the metro trains designed for evacuation unable to operate in these public tunnels.

As a result, multiple tunnels in Moscow were constructed that were not publicly accessible. The codename D-6 (Д-6) likely refers to the unique cross-section of these tunnels, which has a diameter of almost 6 meters (slightly smaller than a regular metro tunnel). Normal metro trains in Moscow receive power from overhead contact rails next to the track. In the secret D-6 tunnels, special short metro carriages are used, powered by batteries. Additionally, the rails in the D-6 tunnels are embedded in concrete, allowing electric cars and vans to travel there as well.

The entire D-6 or Metro-2 network consists of many kilometers of tunnels with separate underground (secret) stations connecting various locations and bunkers in Moscow. The special carriages used in the Metro-2 network also require maintenance. This is done in the 'normal' public (aboveground) maintenance depots of the metro company, and the unique metro carriages used in the Metro-2 section have been photographed extensively in these places.

The location where the secret Metro-2 network and the public metro network 'connect' is one of the best-kept secrets in Moscow. If you were to disembark at Sportivnaya metro station on the public Sokolnicheskaya metro line and walk south along the tracks, after a few dozen meters, you would encounter a switch where a section of track turns left. What is remarkable about this seemingly dead-end track is that the third electrical/contact rail suddenly stops. Then you come to a fence with a lamp mounted on it, indicating to metro train operators that the track ends there. If you look beyond that fence, you'll see that the rails continue for about another 10 meters and appear to stop at a concrete block.

However, that concrete block is not the end of this seemingly dead-end tunnel. The concrete block rests on wheels, allowing it to be rolled aside. Immediately after that concrete block, you reach a heavy gas-tight/water-tight/bombproof door that serves as the secret access point for metro carriages from the public metro network to the secret metro network and vice versa. A bit further, you encounter a second heavy gas-tight/water-tight/bombproof door before you truly enter the secret Metro-2 or D-6 network. Metro carriages can wait at this special 'transfer point' in this way until it is safe to make the crossing to Ramenki. From the transfer point, the D-6 line goes UNDER the 'Moskva' river, ultimately stopping at one of the many underground stations in Ramenki. For the personnel who operate this special transfer point, a separate bunker has been constructed, partly below and partly beside the transfer point. To ensure that personnel can receive an incoming metro train and, for example, move the concrete block, they can access various points between and near the tracks of the transfer point via stairs and ladders from the control bunker.

There are now many dozens of photos circulating on the internet claiming to have been taken in or near this special transfer point or in the Metro-2 or D-6 network. @CKABUSK and I have meticulously examined all these photos and have been able to determine whether certain photos do indeed depict this transfer point. Furthermore, with a high degree of certainty, we have been able to establish WHERE the photo was taken.

While I (@OSINTJOURNO) primarily have an investigative role in projects like these, @CKABUSK has utilized his unique 3D skills to fully reconstruct the special secret transfer point and the underground bunker in 3D. We would like to present to you the result of this 'masterpiece' of research.

With the public release of this 3D model and the accompanying photos, we expect to have made a significant contribution to describing this important part of the Metro 2 or D6 network in Moscow. It is clear that the Metro 2 network is real. Over the past decades, the secret Metro 2 or D-6 network has been expanded with various additional routes, and @CKABUSK and I have with great certainty determined that this network has been expanding and modernizing even now. @CKABUSK and I are currently exploring where the next focus of our #Moscowsecrets research project could be. De twee maanden Twitter Blue die iemand voor me betaalde lopen vandaag af. Laat ik er daarom nog één keer gebruik van maken om alle critici die mijn c.q. ons onderzoek als 'onzin' of 'copy-past' werk beschreven gemotiveerd van repliek te dienen.
Ook gebruik ik deze post om te bewijzen dat @CKABUSK en ik met het #moscowsecrets onderzoek vele malen verder waren dan wie dan ook. Door ons werk te typeren als het 'posten van foto's van groene pyramides' gaan deze critici volledig voorbij aan het belang van datgene dat we al heben gepubliceerd én datgene waarvan we op het punt stonden om te publiceren. Die critici hebben er ook voor gezorgd dat @CKABUSK en ik besloten hebben om ons #moscowsecrets onderzoek en de rest van de gedetailleerde kaarten van de ondergrond van Moskou niet te publiceren. Wellicht was dat ook precies hun bedoeling, maar dat zullen we waarschijnlijk nooit weten.

Als bewijs van het feit dat wij wel degelijk bezig waren met OSINT onderzoek op het hoogste niveau, heb ik hierbij van de gedetailleerde kaart die wij inmiddels maakten een willekeurige plek gekozen om voor eens en voor altijd duidelijk maakt hoe ons werk zich onderscheidt van die copy/paste theorie waarvan bepaalde mensen ons beschuldigen. (Die mensen hebben overigens zelf absoluut nog niets gepresteerd op OSINT gebied en hun kritiek slaat alleen om die reden eigenlijk nergens op, maar die kritiek raakt me gewoon persoonlijk).

Dit willekeurige voorbeeld in deze post maakt ook duidelijk dat de uitspraken die ik deed over de posities van luchtverdedigingsapparatuur in Moskou en het feit dat men daarmee zeer strategische informatie prijsgaf niet op loze gedachten maar op zorgvuldige analyse van gecombineerde informatie waren gebaseerd.

Het willekeurige voorbeeld dat ik heb uitgekozen zijn de droneaanslagen in de afgelopen twee maanden in Moskou die aan Oekraine worden toegeschreven en ik pak de droneaanval van 18 augustus als eenmalig voorbeeld. Bij het bericht van Reuters van 18 augustus 2023 van een 'neergehaalde drone' is een foto gevoegd van het Moscow Expo Center. Op de foto lijkt het alsof tentoonstellingshal 8 door die 'neergestorte' drone getroffen is (zie het nummer 8 op de gevel dat aangeeft welke hal het betreft).

De betreffende drone is echter niet 'neergehaald', maar deze drone heeft precies het doel geraakt: namelijk de luchtinlaten/luchtuitlaten die horen bij een ondergrondse commandopost die op deze plek ligt. Als bewijs daarvan heb ik een EXTRA foto bijgevoegd die duidelijk weergeeft hoe de luchtinlaten/uitlaten waren vermomd als onderdeel van het expocenter.

Ik heb ook een screenshot van een deel van de gedetailleerde ondergrondse kaart van het #moscowsecrets project bijgevoegd waarop de luchttoevoer en exacte plaats van inslag aangegeven is. Je ziet de ondergrondse tunnels in het zwart geprojecteerd over de Google Earth kaart.
Ook heb ik een screenshot van de luchtfoto van Google Earth zonder overlay toegevoegd met de exacte plaats van de inslag.
De plek die in de media beschreven wordt als 'Moscow Expo Center' en de expositiehal 8 is dus niet zo willekeurig als je zou denken.

Iedere keer wanneer er berichten over droneaanslagen in Moskou zijn, dan is aan de hand van het werk van @CKABUSK en mij precies duidelijk dat die droneaanslagen niet zo maar op 'willekeurige' objecten gericht zijn, maar is duidelijk dat degene die de droneaanslagen pleegt precies weet wat wat hij of zij doet.

Het was de bedoeling van @CKABUSK en mij om als onderdeel van het #moscowsecrets project de gedetailleerde kaarten te publiceren én telkens (uiteraard enige tijd ná bepaalde gebeurtenissen) die gebeurtenissen in Moskou te duiden vanuit het aspect van militaire of civiele verdediging.
De critici die mijn c.q. ons werk zo afkraakten zijn nooit verder gekomen dan het globaal beschrijven van militair erfgoed in Nederland uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Daar is op zich natuurlijk niks mis mee, maar daar heb je geen serieuze OSINT skills voor nodig. Voor het maken van een kaart waarop alle ondergrondse commandocentra en verbindingslijnen in kaart zijn gebracht heb je die OSINT skills wél nodig.

Ik zou in principe 50 verschillende locaties in Moskou genomen kunnen hebben om precies uit te leggen wat waar zit en waarom bepaalde locaties nu ineens 'in de belangstelling staan'. Ik hoop en verwacht dat ik met dit ene voorbeeld voor eens en voor altijd die critici de mond heb gesnoerd en heb bewezen dat mijn c.q. ons onderzoek inderdaad OSINT onderzoek van het hoogste niveau is.

Mijn keuze om ooit aan het #moscowsecrets project te beginnen was geheel willekeurig en het gevolg van mijn hobby: het doen van research. Omdat ik bij de analyse van het instorten van de Kakhovkadam onder de indruk was van het analytisch vermogen en de tekenskills van @CKABUSK heb ik hem destijds gevraagd of hij die skills ook in wilde zetten en heb ik hem gevraagd om mij te assisteren bij #moscowsecrets. @Fraccy0 heeft mij op mijn verzoek op verschillende momenten geholpen bij doen van bepaalde deelonderzoeken. Heb ik hen beiden uitgebreid onderzocht of 'gescreend' of hebben zij mij onderzocht en gescreend of kennen wij elkaar persoonlijk? Nee, we zijn elkaar gewoon op Twitter tegen het lijf gelopen en we hebben de 'klik' die we met elkaar ervaarden als onderzoekers gevolgd en hebben gewoon onze hobby uitgevoerd: informatie en OSINT skills combineren en daardoor dingen uitvinden of beschrijven die nog niet eerder op die manier beschreven waren.

Die critici die zeggen dat mijn c.q. ons werk copy/paste is daag ik uit om op internet ofwel a) een kopie van de beschrijving van het transferpunt tussen de publieke metro en metro 2 te vinden inclusief de beschrijving van de daaronder liggende bunker (en ja: als je NU naar de engelstalige Wikipedia gaat, dan staat daar inderdaad ons 3D model en de beschrijving) ofwel b) een beschrijving te vinden van de droneaanslag van 18 augustus 2023 en de duiding waar die aanslag op gericht was.
Ik voorspel je: die informatie kun je niet vinden want die is het resultaat van OSINT skills op het hoogste niveau die @CKABUSK, @Fraccy0 en ik in hebben gezet.

De onterechte kritiek van die paar mensen in Nederland die mij voortdurend zien als Guido heb ik hierbij wat mij betreft ook voor eens en voor altijd weerlegd. Ja, ik heb hem ooit één keer ontmoet toen ik een bunker waar hij eigenaar van is (of was) bezocht. Eén keer dus. Hij weet dus precies wie ik ben en hij weet ook wat ik kan qua OSINT skills én hij weet dat ik enorm veel weet over bunkers en andere Koude Oorlog objecten. Net als iedereen die dat netjes aan mij vraagt, ben ik altijd graag bereid geweest (en nog steeds bereid) om als iemand dat vraagt iets voor diegene uit te zoeken.
Als de critici die er nu voor gezorgd hebben dat ik stop op Twitter gevraagd zouden hebben of ik hen zou willen helpen om iets voor Nederlandse bunkers of Atlantikwall bunkers zou willen uitzoeken, dan zou ik dat immers OOK gewoon gedaan hebben. Ik heb iedereen (!) die mij om hulp vroeg bij het doen van onderzoek waarbij OSINT skills noodzakelijk zijn altijd netjes en correct geholpen. Wordt ik daarmee automatisch die persoon die mij om hulp vraagt? Nee, natuurlijk niet!

Per DM kreeg ik ook met enige regelmatig de vraag wat ik vind van die hele boekenkwestie waar ik telkens in meegezogen wordt. Ik heb telkens als iemand mij dat per DM vroeg duidelijk gezegd dat die hele boekenkwestie me verder niet raakt of interesseert. Hierbij daarom nog een keer in deze publieke post hoe ik hierin sta: het spijt me, maar ik heb niets met Afghanistan en ik heb ook niets met geheime diensten of verhalen daarover. Zou ik het leuk vinden om daar iets over te lezen? Wellicht wel, maar aangezien een 100 euro Twitter Blue status al lastig voor me is, ga ik verder geen geld doneren aan een doel waar ik geen feeling mee heb. Is het handig om publiekelijk deadlines te zeggen en die vervolgens niet te halen? Nee natuurlijk niet, maar ik weiger verder om te speculeren wat er wel of niet aan de hand is waarom bepaalde beloften of verwachtingen niet waargemaakt worden, simpelweg omdat ik geen donateur ben en verder niets met het wel of niet uitkomen van dat boek te maken heb. Is het handig als mensen zorgvuldig blijven communiceren over de verwachtingen die zij wekken? Ja uiteraard zou dat verstandig zijn!

Terug naar mezelf: de verwachting die ik met mijn #Kakhovkadam research en het #Moscowsecrets onderzoek heb gewekt, heb ik volgens mij méér dan waargemaakt. Ik ben telkens bereid geweest om van mijn onderzoek verantwoording af te leggen en daar waar dat redelijkerwijs mogelijk was heb ik altijd vragen beantwoord en publicaties die ik aankondigde altijd gewoon conform de gewekte verwachting gedaan. Ik heb bovendien nog nooit geld gevraagd of geld ontvangen voor dat onderzoek (ook niet via Twitter of zo).

Mijn #Moscowsecrets project stopt hier. Als jullie je afvragen waarom je nu dus niet die leuke geheime gedetailleerde kaarten van Moskou gaat zien, dan weten jullie nu dat je dat te danken hebt aan de critici die mijn c.q. ons onderzoek als 'copy-pasten' van foto's van groene pyramides hebben afgedaan (en wellicht kunnen diegenen die zo'n grote mond hadden zelf eens iets van onderzoek doen en de resultaten publiekelijk presenteren en het #moscowsecrets project voorzetten😇).

Het gebruiken van mijn researchskills is een persoonlijke hobby van me. Met die hobby stop ik niet. Ik weet nog niet wat mijn volgende project gaat worden. Ik ga nu eerst bijkomen van alle bagger die mensen over me hebben uitgestort, en daarna in alle rust bekijken wat leuk is om me op te storen.

Voor de 99% van de mensen die mijn c.q. ons werk wel waardeerden: het was een plezier om aan het #Kakhovkadam project en #Moscowsecrets project te mogen werken en jullie via publieke Twitter berichten op de hoogte te houden.
Voor die 1% van de mensen die het oprechte plezier van mensen zoals ik vergallen door het onnodig verspreiden van bagger en het doen van insinuaties: denk eerst eens na voordat je mensen zo door het slijk haalt.

@Rexkrankjorem Je moet het maar durven. Dan ben je één van de mensen zijn die hebben bijgedragen aan mijn stoppen op Twitter... en dan blijkt dat je over zo weinig 'takt' beschikt dat je zelfs mijn afscheidspost in twijfel trekt.

The two months of Twitter Blue that someone paid for me are expiring today. So, let me use it one more time to respond to all the critics who described my, or rather our, research as 'nonsense' or 'copy-paste' work.

I'm also using this post to prove that @CKABUSK and I were far ahead in the #moscowsecrets investigation than anyone else. By characterizing our work as 'posting pictures of green pyramids,' these critics completely overlook the significance of what we were about to make public. These critics also influenced @CKABUSK and me to decide not to publish our #moscowsecrets investigation and the rest of the detailed maps of the Moscow underground. Perhaps that was their intention all along, but we will probably never know.

As evidence that we were indeed conducting OSINT research at the highest level, I have chosen a random location from the detailed map we have created to illustrate once and for all how our work differs from the copy/paste theory that certain people accuse us of. (By the way, those people have absolutely achieved nothing in the field of OSINT, and their criticism is baseless, but it does affect me personally.)

The random example in this post also demonstrates that the statements I made about the positions of air defense equipment in Moscow and the fact that it revealed highly strategic information were not mere conjecture but the result of careful analysis of combined information.

The random example I have chosen are the drone attack in Moscow over the past two months attributed to Ukraine, and I select the drone attack of August 18 as a one-time example. In the Reuters report from August 18, 2023, about a 'downed drone,' there is a photo of the Moscow Expo Center. The photo suggests that exhibition hall 8 was hit by that 'crashed' drone (see the number 8 on the façade).

However, the drone in question was not 'downed'; it hit its intended target precisely: the air intakes/air outlets associated with an underground command post located at that spot. As proof of this, I have included an ADDITIONAL photo that clearly shows how the air intakes/outlets were disguised to appear as part of the expo center.

I have attached a screenshot of a portion of the detailed underground map from the #moscowsecrets project, indicating the air supply and the exact point of impact. I have also included a screenshot from Google Earth with the precise location of the impact. So, the location described in the media as 'Moscow Expo Center' and exhibition hall 8 is not as random as you might think.

Every time there are reports of drone attacks in Moscow, thanks to the work of @CKABUSK and me, it becomes clear that these drone attacks are not randomly aimed at objects, but it is evident that those who carry out these attacks know precisely what they are doing.

The intention of @CKABUSK and me as part of the #moscowsecrets project was to publish detailed maps and, over time (of course, after certain events), to analyze events in Moscow from the perspective of military or civil defense. The critics who harshly criticized my, or rather our, work never progressed beyond describing military heritage in the Netherlands from World War II in a general way. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but you don't need serious OSINT skills for it. To create a map that charts all underground command centers and communication lines, you do need those OSINT skills.

In theory, I could have taken 50 different locations in Moscow to explain precisely what is where and why certain locations are suddenly 'in the spotlight.' I hope and expect that with this one example, I have silenced those critics once and for all and demonstrated that my, or rather our, research is indeed OSINT research at the highest level.

My decision to start the #moscowsecrets project was entirely arbitrary. Because I was impressed by the analytical abilities and drawing skills of @CKABUSK when analyzing the collapse of the Kakhovkadam, I asked him at the time if he would also use those skills here. @Fraccy0 has helped me at various times in researching certain matters. Did I extensively investigate or 'screen' them, or did they investigate and screen me? No, we simply bumped into each other on Twitter and followed the 'click' we experienced as researchers. We just pursued our hobby: combining information and OSINT skills to discover or describe things that had not been described in that way before.

For those critics who claim that my, or rather our, work is copy/paste, I challenge them to find on the internet either a) a copy of the description of the transfer point between the public metro and metro 2, including the description of the underground bunker below it (and yes, if you go to the English Wikipedia now, you will indeed find our 3D model and description) or b) a description of the drone attack on August 18, 2023, and the interpretation of what that attack was aimed at. I predict you won't find that information because it is the result of OSINT skills at the highest level done by us.

I have, in my opinion, refuted the unwarranted criticism from those few people in the Netherlands who constantly see me as Guido once and for all. Yes, I met him once when I wanted to visit a bunker he owned (or owns). Just once. So, he knows exactly who I am, and he also knows what I can do in terms of OSINT skills. Like anyone who asks me nicely, I have always been (and still am) happy to help them find something or perform research. If the critics who have now caused me to quit Twitter had asked me to help them investigate Dutch bunkers or Atlantikwall bunkers, I would have done that too. I have helped everyone who asked me for assistance in research requiring OSINT skills courteously and correctly. Does that automatically make me the person who asked me for help? No, of course not!

I also received DMs from time to time asking me what I think about the whole book situation. Every time someone asked me that in a DM, I made it clear that the entire book issue doesn't concern or interest me. So, here's how I stand on this in this public post: I'm sorry, but I have nothing to do with Afghanistan, secret services, or stories about them. Would I like to read about it? Perhaps, but since a €100 Twitter Blue subscription is already a challenge for me, I won't donate money to a cause I have no connection to. Is it wise to publicly set deadlines and then not meet them? No, of course not, but I refuse to speculate further on what may or may not be the reason why certain promises or expectations are not being met, simply because I am not a donor and have nothing to do with whether or not that book is released. Is it wise for people to communicate carefully about the expectations they create? Yes, of course, that would be sensible.

Back to myself: I believe I have more than fulfilled the expectations I raised with my #Kakhovkadam research and the #Moscowsecrets investigation. I have always been willing to account for my research, and where reasonably possible, I have answered questions and delivered publications as announced.

My #Moscowsecrets project ends here. If you wonder why you won't see those intriguing secret detailed maps of Moscow now, you know it's thanks to the critics who dismissed my, or rather our, research as 'copy-pasting' photos of green pyramids (and perhaps those who talked so much should do some research and continue the #moscowsecrets project themselves 😇).

Applying my research skills is a personal hobby of mine. I won't stop that hobby. I don't yet know what my next project will be. For now, I need to recover from all the mud that people have thrown at me, and then I'll quietly consider what's fun to pick up.

For the 99% of the people who appreciated my, or rather our, work: it was a pleasure to work on the #Kakhovkadam project and the #Moscowsecrets project.

For the 1% of people who spoil the genuine pleasure of people like me: think first before you drag people through the mud.

Dear people,

This is my final post on Twitter. When I started on Twitter, I believed in the power of an online community, despite the fact that every 'improvement' made by Elon Musk seems to result in a deterioration in practice. I also saw Twitter as a place where people could publicly demonstrate what can be achieved collectively when multiple individuals and researchers join forces.

What ultimately led me to the decision to quit are the (in my view, nonsensical and entirely unwarranted) absurd responses I sometimes receive. While, in collaboration with @CKABUSK and others, I believe I contributed to the discovery and description of unique Cold War artifacts, some label it as merely posting photos that, according to them, are already on the internet. Rarely have I encountered such shortsighted responses.

Those among you who have taken the trouble to look and read about what we were investigating have seen that my and our research indeed added value. While other sites merely stopped at publishing a photo, we described photos in their context and made various objects comprehensible through georeferenced map materials. The fact that this goes much further than simply copying and pasting a photo is something these critics did not get to because they probably do not read what I (or we) wrote and instead make baseless statements based on their gut feelings.

The same gut feeling from some followers also leads to regular demands for me to prove my existence. How low can one sink to continuously ask such questions when I consistently call on people to look at the research work I publish?
After various nonsensical responses and even parody videos appeared last night, I simply sat and cried because those responses affected me so deeply.
In 2 days, my Twitter blue checkmark expires. My friends had offered to sponsor the 100 euros it costs annually to stay on Twitter if I had 1000 followers. I ended up with over 1100 followers. Most of them were genuine followers, but the bad apples among them made me spend evenings for days on end, sadly looking at various nonsensical responses and wondering why I deserved that. Instead of renewing the Twitter yearly subscription, we will celebrate this coming weekend with a drink to mark the moment I made the decision not to subject myself to absurd responses and insinuations any longer.

I believe I have done nothing to deserve such negative reactions. Someone wrote yesterday that Twitter has become the 'sewer' of social media.

In the end, 24 hours later, I have decided that enough is enough. I have decided that this sewer called Twitter (or X) can do without me from now on. It has been a few beautiful and intense months. I will continue to do the in-depth research I enjoy so much, but I will no longer publish about that research on Twitter.

Dit is mijn laatste post op Twitter. Toen ik startte op Twitter geloofde ik in de kracht van een online community, ondanks het feit dat iedere 'verbetering' die Elon Musk doorvoert in de praktijk uitdraait op een verslechtering. Ik zag Twitter ook als een plaats waar mensen publiekelijk aan anderen zouden kunnen laten zien wat je in gezamenlijkheid kunt bereiken als meerdere mensen en onderzoekers hun krachten bundelen. Wat mij uiteindelijk heeft doen besluiten om te stoppen, zijn de (in mijn ogen onzinnige en volledig onterechte) absurde reacties die ik soms krijg.

Daar waar ik in samenwerking met @CKABUSK en anderen volgens mij op een unieke manier bijdroeg aan het ontdekken en beschrijven van objecten uit de Koude Oorlog, betitelen sommigen dat als het uitsluitend posten van foto's die volgens hen al op internet staan. Zelden heb ik zulke kortzichtige reacties meegemaakt. Diegenen onder jullie die wél de moeite hebben genomen om te kijken en te lezen wat we onderzochten, hebben gezien dat mijn en ons onderzoek daadwerkelijk iets toevoegde. Daar waar andere sites slechts bleven steken bij het publiceren van een foto, hebben wij foto's in hun context beschreven en hebben we allerlei objecten door middel van geogereferenceerd kaartmateriaal inzichtelijk gemaakt. Dat dat heel wat verder gaat dan het simpelweg copy/pasten van een foto, daar zijn die criticasters niet aan toegekomen omdat ze waarschijnlijk niet lezen wat ik (c.q. wij) schreven en ergens op basis van hun onderbuikgevoel dingen roepen.

Datzelfde onderbuikgevoel van sommige volgers zorgt er ook voor dat ik met regelmaat oproepen krijg dat ik moet bewijzen dat ik besta. Hoe laag kun je zinken om bij voortduring dat soort vragen te blijven stellen terwijl ik bij voortduring oproep om te kijken naar het researchwerk dat ik publiceer en me daarop te beoordelen. Nadat gisteravond weer allerlei onzinnige reacties volgden en zelfs filmpjes als parodie verschenen, heb ik eerst gewoon zitten janken omdat die reacties mij zo enorm raakten.

Over 2 dagen loopt mijn twitter blue vinkje af. Mijn vrienden hadden aangeboden om de 100 euro die het jaarlijks kost om op twitter te te blijven te sponsoren als ik 1000 volgers zou hebben. Ik eindigde met meer dan 1100 volgers. Het merendeel daarvan waren oprechte volgers, maar de rotte appels die ertussen zaten zorgden ervoor dat ik al dagen lang 's avonds met verdriet naar allerlei stompzinnige reacties zat te kijken en me verbaas afvroeg waar ik dat aan had verdiend. In plaats van dat Twitter jaarabonnement gaan we a.s. weekend onder het genot van een drankje vieren dat ik de knoop heb doorgehakt dat ik mezelf niet langer bloot wil stellen aan absurde reacties en insinuaties. Ik vind dat ik dat niets heb gedaan waardoor ik zulke negatieve en belachelijke reacties verdien. Iemand schreef gisteren dat Twitter het 'afvoerputje' qua social media is.

Uiteindelijk heb ik nu, 24 uur later, besloten dat het welletjes is. Ik heb besloten dat dat afvalputje dat Twitter (of X) heet het voortaan zonder mij moet doen. Het waren een paar mooie en intense maanden. Ik blijf gewoon de onderzoeken doen waar ik van geniet, maar ik ga niet meer over die onderzoeken publiceren op Twitter.

Het ga jullie allemaal goed!
