If I had to boil down everything I've learned working with founders building 7- and 8-figure businesses into a single insight, it would be this:
The biggest thing getting in your way is...you.
Here are a few examples of how this shows up when I work with founders (which one makes you feel personally called out?):
• You claim you want success, but success secretly represents loss to you. You're afraid success will mean losing your freedom, ambition, or current identity. So you sabotage yourself anytime you get close to success.
• You tell yourself perfectionism is your superpower. But perfection is unattainable. So you hold yourself and everything you do to an unattainable expectation, which causes you to be perpetually dissatisfied with everything and delay launches.
• You think you need someone else's permission to do the thing because you don't trust yourself or your own judgement. So you keep waiting instead of cultivating self-trust.
• You overcomplicate everything because you tell yourself you need to "see the whole picture" before you move forward. There's also more pride in solving a complicated problem. So anytime you find a simple problem, you make it complicated.
• You believe you can bully or self-flagellate your way to success. Your internal monologue is toxic, then you wonder why you never feel like you're enough. A simple question to assess this: Would you ever talk to another human being the way you talk to yourself on a daily basis?
There are dozens of others.
But the good news is that because you keep getting in your own way, that means you can get out of your own way.
I know it's possible, because this is the work I do every day with founders.
