THE PART OF #ETHIOPIAN HISTORY PEOPLE DON’T LIKE TO TALK ABOUT: 1941

Mussolini returned. In 1935, #Italy invaded Ethiopia; by May 1936, Italian forces had Colonized Addis Ababa, and Italy formally proclaimed sovereignty over Ethiopia. Ethiopia was incorporated into Italian East Africa alongside Eritrea and Italian Somaliland.

Then came 1941.

With the Help of British forces, together with Ethiopian resistance fighters, defeated the Italian occupation. Haile Selassie returned to Addis Ababa but the transition was not simply a clean story of Ethiopia independently “liberating itself.” British forces occupied Addis Ababa, and Ethiopia was administered by the British as enemy-occupied territory during the war.

So when the history is told, tell all of it.

Ethiopia was invaded.
Ethiopia was Colonized.
Italy declared sovereignty over it.
Italian rule collapsed through a combination of Ethiopian resistance and Allied military intervention like British.
And British forces played a decisive role in the restoration of Haile Selassie.

History doesn't become less complicated because a convenient version sounds better.

🚨💣NEW: José Mourinho BLASTS Pep Guardiola after Manchester City are reportedly found guilty of 114 of their 115 Premier League financial charges:

🗣️ Mourinho:

“In 2024, Pep Guardiola was boasting that he had won six Premier League titles while I had won three, but I won mine fairly and cleanly. I don’t want to win while dealing with 150 lawsuits. When I lose, I want to congratulate an opponent who has won fairly, because winning means something only when everybody follows the same rules.”

“Now we have reports of a guilty verdict against Manchester City, and if those findings stand, they must face the consequences. Football should be won through hard work, talent and fair competition. Cheating cannot become acceptable simply because the team doing it plays beautiful football.”

“If City are stripped of the 2017/18 title and it is awarded to Manchester United, then yes, I am a Premier League champion with Manchester United. Those players deserve their recognition. We worked for those points. Nobody gave us anything, and I will accept that medal with a very clear conscience.”

“Remember, I told you finishing second with that Manchester United team was one of my greatest achievements. People laughed. They said José was making excuses. Perhaps now they understand. Maybe my fourth Premier League title is simply arriving a little late.”

Fake election destroys country better you declare lifetime clown

[Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 @AbiyAhmedAli]

The people of Ethiopia are an extraordinary and remarkable people. Other than the Creator, who can truly know and assess our people in their entirety? Through this year’s election, Ethiopians have once again shown the world that they are a people with a rich culture, deep patriotism, and the ability to safeguard the common good.

On this historic day:

* Citizens who were not intimidated by the cold and darkness of the night,
* Who were not deterred by the midday sun or sudden rain,
* Whom weddings, funerals, childbirth, and other social obligations did not prevent from participating,
* Who were not wearied by long lines,
* Whose physical disabilities did not stop them from casting their vote,
* Those whose illness and old age did not prevent from witnessing the hope of their country,
* Who were not exhausted by carrying their infant children; the future inheritors of the nation,
* And above all, whom the shouting and threats of enemies could not intimidate or stop;

The perseverance you demonstrated amid many challenges and hardships, against all odds, was a contribution made for democracy and for the very survival of the nation. For this, you deserve heartfelt gratitude.

It is a privilege to serve such a people. Therefore, may those who have been elected honor the trust placed in them and serve this people, with integrity and sincerity! A people who have paid a great price for the democratic system. May you be worthy of that responsibility.
