While you will see the focus is on the coastal belt of North Yemen (thanks to noisy resistard accounts) Yemeni forces are advancing into Al-Jawf and getting closer to Houthi HQ in Sa’dah and San’a. Al-Jawf and Ma’rib push into Houthi HQ is important if you want irreversible control over the coastal belt. Reason: You will have access to higher ground and not be vulnerable in the coastal planes.

Bin Salman is now in an even worse position in Yemen than before, and can only blame himself.

When the Houthis announced they were returning to war and started targeting Saudi, the Saudi Crown Prince failed to take it seriously and went to watch a video game tournament in Paris instead while insisting on the importance of continuing to hold raves, concerts, and circuses throughout August, as well as dragging clerics (AbdulAziz Al-Treefe) on death penalty charges to send a message to Washington and Tel Aviv that the Mecca Alliance is not reflective of any ideological shift (and that he remains committed to dismantling Islamic influences).

The Houthis sensed Bin Salman’s indecision when the Saudi foreign minister announced in Russia that Riyadh was ready for talks, and this sent morale soaring in the Houthi ranks. The Houthis had initially feared that Bin Salman had suddenly decided to abandon the years of tinkering with the Yemeni government to restrict the Islah and support the ground forces as one collective in a march to liberate the capital Sanaa.

The Houthis came to the realisation that Bin Salman still has no grand plan for Yemen. His main priority remains dismantling the ‘Muslim’ from Saudi identity, and everything else to him is just a frustrating distraction.

Accordingly, the Houthis have marched on Mokha and seized it, while Bin Salman and Turki Al Sheikh 🎶dance the night away🎶.
