Subject: New Realities Require New Measures

The situation in the region has changed quickly. The federal political structure in #Mogadishu, the geopolitical competition in the Horn of Africa, and the involvement of outside actors have created new instability and security risks.

Sool has become a hotspot that #Puntland cannot afford to ignore. The problem must be contained before it spreads into Puntland and creates a wider security threat.

Las Anod is no longer just a local issue. It has become a space where exile politicians, hostile federal actors, foreign interests, and other forces operate. Through this, problems that are not local are being imported into the region and turned into security risks for Puntland.

Over the last three years, the actions, decisions, and political direction of the SSC-Khaatumo leadership, including Firdhiye and the traditional leadership, have provided a clear basis for understanding their intentions, capabilities, and objectives. Puntland now has enough experience and information to make decisions based on reality, not expectations, emotions, or wishful thinking.

The period of observation is over.

The time for policy adjustment has arrived.

Therefore, I propose the following:

1. Close all borders between Puntland and Sool. No movement of people, vehicles, or goods should be allowed in or out. This is necessary because the current situation has been handled irresponsibly and has become a security risk for Puntland’s stability.

2. This measure should remain in effect until the Dhulbahante community resolves its internal disputes, speaks with one unified voice, and presents a credible and sustainable solution to this recurring problem.

The reality has changed.

Puntland’s response must change with it.

This is a very cheap mischaracterization and a disrespectful distortion of what “Puntland First” actually means.

Puntland First is not about hostility toward others. It is a political philosophy that recognizes the primary responsibility of any government: to serve and protect its own people first.

Puntland First holds that the Puntland government must prioritize the security, prosperity, development, and well-being of Puntlanders above all else. It emphasizes self-governance, economic growth, territorial integrity, stability, and the advancement of Puntland’s strategic interests.

At the same time, Puntland First supports peaceful, constructive, and mutually beneficial relations with neighboring regions and countries, including Somalia and Somaliland, whenever such cooperation serves the interests of Puntland and its citizens.

Every successful government puts the interests of its people first. Puntland First is simply the Puntland expression of that principle.

This keeps the focus on the philosophy itself and avoids turning the discussion into a personal dispute.

The perspective echoing inside this troubled man is exactly what Hodan and those like her are pushing!!

On top of a shallow understanding of governance and 35 years of ongoing political infighting, Mogadishu suffers from an additional issue: its people view the city as if Mogadishu is Somalia, believing they are uniquely entitled to the country while the rest of it is deemed meaningless.

Those who subscribe to this weak mindset have been stuck in destruction and insecurity for 35 years, with large parts of their own regions controlled by al-Shabaab. Yet, they oppose Puntland's progress.

They work to demonize and dismantle the development and security enjoyed by the people of Puntland - who, unlike the utterly failed populace in Mogadishu, took charge of their own destiny 27 years ago.

Today, it is imperative for Puntland to move past the incompetent rulers of Mogadishu.

Puntland First is leading the implementation of the historic transformation that Puntland needs: determining its own future and forging a path to become independent from the failed system in Mogadishu.

#PuntlandFirst has mapped out a path for its community to leave behind the chaos, the poor understanding of governance, the ignorance, and the insecurity plaguing Mogadishu and its surrounding areas.

The days of Puntland remaining tied to Mogadishu's failure are over. This is the core principle upon which Puntland First is built.

The project goal is to move Puntland from semi-autonomous status toward full statehood, deepen alignment with Somaliland, and ultimately legitimize Somaliland's claim to independence through mutual recognition.

The movement is not about local politics or strengthening PL within the federal system of Somalia.

It’s a model that favors fragmented, weak states over unified and sovereign ones. Because a divided Somalia is far easier to influence economically, politically, and militarily than a strong, united nation.
