@0xgolam Exactly, asking prices are just hopes๐
Our main benchmark is eBay sold listings over 30 days, with CeX cash prices as the floor.
Getting that sold data through eBay's official route is the fix we're working on now
Build in public, week 2 of October:
Sold-price data is still being fixed. Doing it properly beats doing it fast.
Meanwhile:
โข Deals now priced on real sales only, never asking prices
โข Live on Instagram and Facebook
โข 7 beta testers in, up from 6
Road to 100 users: 6 beta testers in.
OTR scores used and refurb tech deals across the UK against real resale data. If a deal doesn't add up, you don't see it
Phones, laptops, consoles, monitors and GPUs. Smartwatches coming soon

Founder lesson this week:
For months my head was in the data. Scores, pricing, edge cases.
The dev team has that covered. What OTR needs from me now is people: talking to users, building the community.
The best data in the world means nothing if nobody's using it.
How to check what used tech is really worth in 2 mins:
1. eBay: filter "Sold items". That's what people actually paid.
2. CeX: check "We buy for cash". That's your floor.
3. Ignore asking prices. They're hopes, not value.
That's the check OTR runs on every deal.
@mianoedwin_ Brutal is the right word๐
We'd rather send 10 deals we can stand behind than 100 we can't.
Ever had to work around eBay blocks yourself?
Build in public, week 1 of October:
Our eBay sold-price listings is getting blocked 86% of the time.
No sold data = no score.
We won't guess what something is worth, so fewer deals go out until it's fixed.
Working on it now. Fewer deals beats fake ones!
Right now eBay sold prices are our main source of truth.
We want more, so our
resale estimates get even stronger.
Where do you check what tech actually sells for second-hand?
Drop your go-to sites below ๐
We found a bug that made some deals look ~40% better than they really were.
For a product built on "only deals worth buying," that's the worst kind of bug.
Here's what happened and how we fixed it ๐งต
First beta user is officially in ๐
Small start, but real โ real deals, real feedback, real pressure to get things right before we open up further.
Our goal isnโt to show you the most deals. Itโs to show you the ones actually worth your time.
Fewer, better, verified. Thatโs the whole philosophy behind everything weโre building.
Hereโs where OTR is headed:
Phase 1 โ Alerts you can trust, delivered where you already are (Telegram)
Phase 2 โ A community of resellers helping each other spot whatโs real
Phase 3โ Expanding into more categories and marketplaces
Building all four in parallel. Trust comes first
Been heads-down building for a few weeks. Back to regular updates from here!
Quick recap if youโre new: OTR is building DCS (Deal Confidence Score) โ a system that checks whether a deal is actually worth buying, not just discounted. More on how it works soon.
@thetoyinvestor Seasonal blindspots are real a lot of resellers price off โwhatโs normally slowโ instead of what the actual sold data says right now
Sounds like you caught it early!
@jearl02s Congrats on the listing
One thing worth checking before it sells: compare against actual recent sold prices for that model, not just active listings, active โasksโ can be way higher than what things actually close for
Good luck with the whale ๐ฃ
