'Dust is constant' is a philosophy we are not carrying into the conversation on Kenya Beyond Vision 2030. Across Narok, roads are being transformed from dusty, impassable routes into reliable arteries of development.

The Ololunga–Sogoo–Saptet–Mulot Road is nearing completion, with 22 kilometres already paved to bitumen standards under the supervision of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) and funded by the National Government.

The road is part of a larger multi-link rural network spanning 78 to 81 kilometres, connecting communities across Narok South, Narok West, Kilgoris and Emurua Dikirr, opening up fertile agricultural zones and easing the movement of farmers and their produce.

The improved corridor will link rural production centres to markets such as the newly operational Ololulunga Modern Market, strengthening trade in maize, wheat, vegetables and dairy products.

Through the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, the Government is supporting infrastructure that brings communities closer to markets, services and opportunities.

Following the recently concluded inaugural Kenya Health Summit, the Government is sustaining the national conversation on Kenya Beyond Vision 2030 by translating health priorities into tangible investments that advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The commitment is further supported by the Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere (EWENE) framework, which seeks to accelerate progress in reducing preventable maternal and newborn deaths.

A key example is the now-complete Mama Rachel Ruto Specialist Hospital–Mutuini in Dagoretti South, which has been transformed into a 400-bed Level 5 referral facility, up from 40 beds, and is currently undergoing equipping with critical systems including CT scanners, dialysis units and modern theatre equipment.

With specialised maternity and newborn services, intensive and high-dependency care, renal services, advanced diagnostics and neonatal support, including human milk banks, the facility will expand access to specialised care while helping ease pressure on major referral hospitals.

A healthy population is a foundation of national security, economic productivity and social stability. Construction of the Embu Modern Market, with the lower three floors structurally complete while formwork and columns are being installed for the fourth floor deck, is set to strengthen the county's position as a key agricultural hub by providing farmers with reliable outlets for their produce and traders with modern, organised business spaces, advancing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The four-storey facility, whose construction began in October 2024, will accommodate 2,144 stalls and 450 shops.

The market also features ICT hubs, food courts, cargo lifts, goods ramps, garbage chutes, a crèche, a dispensary, meeting rooms, administrative offices and over 30 accessible washrooms, creating a safe, efficient and inclusive trading environment.

Its implementation, through a multi-agency approach involving the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration underscores the Government's commitment to delivering modern market infrastructure that expands economic opportunities, strengthens local commerce and improves livelihoods.

Roads are indiscriminate to every traveller and so is development under a government determined to leave no region behind.

In Kikuyu Constituency, the upgrading of the Rumwe–Skyline Crescent Road to bitumen standards is bringing this principle to life, extending modern infrastructure to residents who have long relied on an all-weather connection.

Spearheaded by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), the project is nearing completion, with drainage works, footpaths and road furniture currently being installed.

As a vital suburban connector, the road will ease movement, improve accessibility and strengthen links to homes, businesses and essential services.

Barely four years ago, thousands of families in Mukuru, especially children, went to sleep in crowded, dilapidated structures, dreaming of something better. Today, that deam is a lived reality.

The Phase II of Boma Yangu Mukuru Estate, delivered under the Government's Affordable Housing Programme (AHP) and officially handed over by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto in December 2025, has given nearly 4,500 families the keys to decent and affordable homes. A reminder of what becomes possible when a national vision reaches the lives of ordinary people.

The residential area and intergated community is complemented by a completed and operational New Mukuru Primary School and ECD Centre, alongside a Level IV Hospital, shopping mall, Fire Station, Police Station, 5-million-litre water tank and metered cooking gas supply, means families can now live, learn, work and access essential services within their neighbourhood.

This success also offers a glimpse of what Kenya Beyond Vision 2030 can become. If we sustain the same commitment, discipline and follow-through that turned this vision into reality, we can build the safe, dignified and prosperous city, and country, we imagine in the Kenya Beyond Vision 2030 blueprint.

The Police Station within the estate strengthens security, community policing and rapid response, helping ensure that the new homes and opportunities are matched by a safe environment.

Efficient and reliable transport infrastructure is the foundation of a modern city. It enables people and businesses to move seamlessly, supports economic activity and shapes how a city grows.

This is the thinking behind the transformation of Nairobi, with construction of the Kenyatta Avenue–Upper Hill Viaduct making steady progress.

Implemented by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), the elevated road is designed to bypass major traffic bottlenecks between the Nairobi Central Business District and Upper Hill, improving mobility while opening up new opportunities for commerce and investment.

The viaduct begins at the Kenyatta Avenue Roundabout where motorists will ascend onto the ramp before following the Kenyatta Avenue extension. It will fly over congested intersections at Processional Way, Mamlaka Road and Nyerere Road, running past All Saints' Cathedral before ending near the Integrity Centre along Jakaya Kikwete Road, where it will connect smoothly with traffic heading towards Ngong Road and Valley Road.

Construction has now entered the superstructure phase, with reinforced concrete piers and pier caps completed and precast girders being placed across the piers to form the primary structural members that will carry the elevated roadway.

The overpass will also incorporate cycle lanes and pedestrian walkways, promoting safer and more inclusive movement while strengthening connectivity within Nairobi's wider urban transport network.

Safe infrastructure, secure corridors and reliable connectivity are essential to a Nairobi where residents, businesses and visitors can move with confidence and participate fully in the city's 24-hour economy. Nairobi became Kenya's official Capital in 1907 under British rule and retained that status at independence in 1963. Since then, the City has undergone profound transformation. We must now reimagine Nairobi as a modern, safe and functional Capital that serves Kenya today and into the future; Beyond Vision 2030.

Through the Nairobi County Urban Renewal and Regeneration Programme, a joint framework of the National and County Governments, the Capital is receiving a major facelift.

Roads and pavements are being improved, walkways upgraded, dustbins and decorative walls installed, while the Smart Street Lighting Project is adding more than 40,000 automated LED fixtures capable of reporting faults in real time.

The work is already visible across the Central Business District (CBD) and feeder roads in various wards, creating a cleaner, more accessible and pedestrian-friendly city.

Drainage is also being improved along 19 flood-prone roads, including the Mombasa Road–Bunyala Junction corridor and Globe Roundabout, to improve storm-water flow and reduce perennial flooding.

A better urban environment will strengthen the 24-hour economy by making it easier and safer for people to work, trade and move around the city at all hours. In turn, this enhances investor confidence, supports businesses and creates an enabling environment for new investment, jobs and enterprise.

History shapes the future by preserving the lessons, struggles and aspirations that define a nation. Few places embody our democratic journey more profoundly than the Kamukunji Historical Grounds in Nairobi, the birthplace of the 1990 Saba Saba movement that helped propel the country towards multiparty democracy and wider civil liberties.

As we stride on towards our future, Beyond Vision 2030, the restoration of this landmark ensures that the memories that shaped the nation remain part of the conversations shaping its tomorrow.

The historic grounds have now been completely transformed through the Nairobi Rivers Regeneration Project into a vibrant public space where heritage, recreation, environmental restoration and community life converge.

The upgraded facility features an 11-a-side football pitch, seven-a-side and multipurpose fields, basketball courts, a boxing ring, children's play areas, safe walkways, improved sanitation and a mental health corner.

The transformation extends beyond sport and recreation. A resource centre with a library, social hall and digital museum now complements an indoor gym, changing rooms and an amphitheatre equipped with an outdoor gym, gazebos and a tree nursery.

We cannot sustain the national conversation on Kenya Beyond Vision 2030 when parts of our Capital still take pride in descriptions such as 'the largest slum in Africa.'

The Government's Affordable Housing Programme (AHP), a key pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), is changing that narrative by taking development to the lowest rungs of the socio-economic ladder and transforming informal settlements into dignified and inclusive communities.

In Kibra's Soweto Zone B, Phase I is already taking shape, with 18 high-rise residential blocks delivering 4,054 modern housing units.

Phase II, covering Zones C and D, is also taking shape, with the contractor on site and clearance underway, expected to raise the number of houses with an additional 15,000 units.

Importantly, families relocated to create space for the development have already been issued identification cards and will be the first beneficiaries of the completed housing units. This ensures that the people who made way for the project are at the front of the transformation.

The project is a major engine of economic empowerment, creating employment and enterprise opportunities for young people and women living in Kibera.

The master plan provides for commercial and retail spaces, community halls, ECD centres, health clinics, water and electricity networks, waste management, sewerage and stormwater drainage.

The event culminated in the official commissioning of the Wanini Kireri Magereza Level IV Hospital at the Prisons Staff Training College (PSTC), Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The Raila Odinga International Stadium stands as a fitting tribute to the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, a statesman whose enduring love for sports has always been matched by his vision of a stronger and more modern Kenya.

The 60,000-seater stadium at Jamhuri Grounds along Ngong Road is now in its final construction phase and is expected to host test matches before the end of the year.

Custom-built for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, the arena is perfectly taking shape, with the main pitch fully levelled and ready for stitching, while works continue on the advanced hydraulic tension-cable roof system, seating, floodlights, LED screens, public-address systems and VAR-enabled officiating suites.

Construction of the surrounding training pitches are also progressing well.

To support the stadium and manage match-day traffic, the Government is fast-tracking critical connectivity and utilities, including an adjacent power substation, access roads and a railway station link.

The conversation on Kenya Beyond Vision 2030 cannot be complete while Nairobi, the nation's Capital, remains dotted with slums and shanties.

This is why the Government is prioritising slum upgrading and the transformation of informal settlements into dignified, modern communities. The Shauri Moyo A Affordable Housing Project is a strong demonstration of this commitment.

Located about six kilometres from the Central Business District, the project comprises 1,848 housing units across 12 fourteen-storey blocks, supported by an ECD centre, shops, social hall, parking and recreational spaces.

The development has created thousands of jobs across the construction value chain, from engineers and artisans to suppliers, transporters and on-site workers, especially the youth and women.
