i will never understand people who think walkable urbanism is an impossible goal in the US.
if we can level communities to build highways, we can level highways to build communities.
NEW: One of the most dangerous drivers in New York City is an NYPD cop on Staten Island. He’s gotten 547 school-zone speeding and red-light tickets in the past four years.
The NYPD is refusing to intervene: https://t.co/Wsp3wSz6XC
We went to Staten Island to track down New York City's second-worst driver:
He's an @NYPDnews officer who has been caught blasting through school zones or running red lights in his truck more than 547 times since 2022.
@mrtuffguy What I really meant is THE top planning priority. Safety, public space, and the flow of people are all more important and should be what cities get designed around.
Great op-ed from @NYDNOpinions
about how important it is for @KathyHochul to veto the mandatory subway overstaffing bill.
If even the NYC subway system is a jobs program before a mobility service transit in the USA is truly doomed.

Charlie Kirk was an unrepentant racist, transphobe, homophobe, and misogynist who often wrapped his bigotry in Bible verses because there was no other way to pretend that it was morally correct.

.@Amtrak why is the Keystone 663 almost 90 minutes late? NYC is the first stop on the trip, please tell us what’s going on. There have been no updates since we got to the station, the delay is longer than the ride.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but the most visible person standing up to Trump's policies in government right now is New York's governor, Kathy Hochul.
Being a native NYer is cool but I mostly hear the "native" card pulled out to defend regressive policies (NIMBYism, anti-congestion, anti-bike lane, anti-speed cameras).
All my life I have studied democratization and autocratization. My 1st field trip was to newly democratic Argentina. I then added autocracies to my portfolio: Cuba, Ven, etc. I think I can recognize the stages of transition to authoritarianism. Here are the boxes checked off.
This program is an abject failure. Only 30 out of >12,000 restaurants that applied will have outdoor dining. NYC has made it expensive and near impossible to do anything that isn’t storing a personal vehicles on the public right of way. NYC needs leaders that don’t hate cities.
