I am one lucky man.

I’ve experienced life as an Obidient, and today I am a Progressive. I can confidently say they are two completely different ideologies.

Yesterday, I experienced something I hadn’t felt. It was as though the Super Eagles won the World Cup. I genuinely felt what it means to love your country and sincerely want the best for it.

The moment the news broke that the abducted Oyo schoolchildren and their teachers had been rescued, my phone practically exploded. Calls everywhere, messages from everywhere. People were congratulating one another, celebrating, thanking God.

Not because any of us had our own children among those rescued.

We were simply happy that innocent Nigerians made it home alive.

That joy was real and pure. It reminded me that the life of every Nigerian matters.

As an Obidient, I never experienced that kind of collective joy for Nigeria. The atmosphere was always different. If the news was good, people looked for reasons to downplay it. If it was bad, na there everybody go gather, begin push agenda. The mindset often seemed to be that nothing good should ever be acknowledged. It always felt like if Nigeria recorded a win, some people were disappointed because it didn’t fit the narrative they had already built.

Yesterday changed something in me forever.

For the first time in a long while, I felt genuinely proud to be a Nigerian. People celebrated the success of our security forces and the safe return of fellow citizens without bitterness.

Yesterday reaffirmed that I am with a group that celebrates Nigeria’s victories, no matter how small or big. A group that wants this country to succeed because when Nigeria wins, we all win.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. God bless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

VICE PRESIDENT SHETTIMA VISITS CITY BOY MOVEMENT’S NEW NATIONAL SECRETARIAT AS APC RECEIVES TINUBU-SHETTIMA 2027 NOMINATION FORMS

Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the newly established National Secretariat of the City Boy Movement in Abuja, shortly after the All Progressives Congress formally received the completed nomination forms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President for the 2027 presidential election.

The Vice President was received by the Patron of the City Boy Movement, Mr Seyi Tinubu; the Minister of Youth Development and Co-Patron of the Movement, Hon. Ayodele Olawande; the Vice President’s son and Co-Patron of the Movement, Amir Kashim Shettima Jnr.; the Director-General, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga; members of the Board and National Working Committee; and progressive youth leaders drawn from across the federation.

The visit underscored the growing stature of the City Boy Movement as the foremost platform for progressive youth mobilisation, grassroots engagement and sustained advocacy for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Discussions centred on strengthening youth-focused policies, deepening citizen engagement and expanding the pathways through which young Nigerians can participate meaningfully in governance and national development.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice President commended the Movement for establishing a national secretariat that will serve as the coordinating centre for its expanding grassroots structure and nationwide advocacy network.

“This secretariat stands as a testament to what can be achieved when young people unite behind a common and progressive purpose,” he said.

In his remarks, the Patron of the City Boy Movement, Mr Seyi Tinubu, thanked the Vice President for honouring the Movement with the visit and described the new secretariat as a permanent home for a generation determined to shape its own future.

“Today is not just about a building. It is about young Nigerians taking their seat at the table of nation-building and refusing to leave. The City Boy Movement belongs to every young person who believes in this country, and this secretariat is where that belief goes to work,” he said.

The Director-General of the Movement, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, also expressed appreciation to the Vice President for the historic visit and reaffirmed the Movement’s commitment to advancing the administration’s development agenda.

“We will continue to mobilise young Nigerians in every state and every ward, strengthen public understanding of government policies, build trust between citizens and government, and expand our advocacy structures across the federation. The Renewed Hope Agenda has no stronger foot soldiers than the young people of this Movement,” he said.

The visit crowned a significant day for the ruling party, coming hours after the APC formally received the completed nomination forms of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

- Please construct the Ibiye–Checkpoint–Magbon road.
- Employ more doctors at Badagry General Hospital.
- Continue improving service delivery in our government hospitals. The staff are trying, but more can still be done.
- Make the Primary Health Centre at Ilepo operate 24 hours a day to handle emergencies.
- Please improve electricity supply in our community, which has been poor since January.

Finally, I appreciate the ongoing development in Badagry, the road projects, the rehabilitation of the roundabout, and other infrastructure upgrades. These projects are making a difference. I hope to see even more public infrastructure that will improve healthcare, economic growth, and the quality of life for everyone.

One thing I have always admired about the Yoruba culture is their deep sense of gratitude.

Just look at how the people in the community where the abducted Oyo school children and teachers were rescued came out to thank and appreciate the military personnel as they drove away after the successful operation.

In some other regions, such an operation might have been met with insults and accusations that the federal government is using the military to invade their community.

That culture of acknowledging and appreciating those who make sacrifices deserves recognition.

The Yoruba people place a high value on gratitude, and it is a quality worth emulating.
