We hope Places for London, the @TfL property company, will give serious thought to additional cross-river bridges, over Bow Creek, to Goodluck Hope and/or City Island as part of these proposals for the Limmo Peninsula, which is on the boundary of Newham and Tower Hamlets 👇

Finally! This vital safe route onto the Isle of Dogs is reopened 🎉

Good news! The Thames Path footbridge on the Isle of Dogs by Cascades has been repaired reopened. The hoardings were removed this morning - so this section of Thames Path is open again!

It's been an awful long time coming but we're so pleased to report that the Bridge by Cascades has been reopened and the temporary wall/hoardings removed this morning, meaning this vital section of the Thames path is now fully accessible!

We understand the bridge works by Canal & River Trust for the Cascades bridge are completed.

The final step to allow the route to be reopened is for the hoardings by Gaucho to be removed by Canary Wharf Group.

We hope to see this progress imminently.

Cascades Bridge update:

The works have been completed.

Due to current weather conditions and material that has to be removed, it is unsafe to remove the hoarding and unlock the bridge at this time. Once the wind has dropped the hoarding will be removed and the bridge reopened.

Work is continuing at the Cascades bridge this week as more components arrive.

We're very much looking forward to this vital route being reopened in the new future!

We got in touch with Canal and River Trust last year and they confirmed the repairs included a full deck and support system replacement.

As to why it's taken so long to get to this stage, I think that's a question for them!

It’s taken @CanalRiverTrust over a year but finally work begins on the bridge. Well done @our_river for campaigning on this - this is such an important route on & off the island for so many - hopefully it will reopen v soon
