76 years ago today, North Korean armies crossed the 38th Parallel and invaded South Korea, beginning the Korean War. United States and United Nations forces rushed in to support South Korea. The war lasted 38 months, resulting in more than 36,000 American lives lost and more than 3 million Koreans dead. The Korean War Veterans Memorial honors all those who fought for freedom in the “Forgotten War.”
