“Judeo-Christian” is a 20th-century political invention, not a real shared tradition. Rabbinic Judaism and Christianity are theologically incompatible.
Jesus in Matthew 23 calls the Pharisees (founders of Rabbinic Judaism) hypocrites, blind guides, whitewashed tombs, and children of hell who lock people out of heaven.
Judaism rejects Jesus as the Messiah. Talmud Sanhedrin 43a calls him a sorcerer who led Israel astray. Gittin 57a says he is boiling in excrement.
“Love your neighbor” (Lev 19:18): in Judaism, this traditionally means fellow Jew only. Christianity means everyone (Good Samaritan).
Christianity: one law/gospel for all. Judaism: 613 commandments for Jews, 7 Noahide commandments for Gentiles.
Jewish scholars (Arthur Cohen, Jacob Neusner, Eliezer Berkovits) have long called the “Judeo-Christian tradition” a myth that erases these differences.
Pointing this out is not antisemitic. It’s just accurate.

Happy soon to be 50!
52. Let me tell you the big difference at 50.
None.
Eat right, exercise, get good sleep, manage your stress... and you will feel healthier now than when in your 30's.
It's easier to laugh, to love, and to yes... dance like no one is watching.
Because as you observed... we care about us much more than everyone else. They are all worried about shitting their own pants.
God forbid we do... it makes us more human.
I spent my life trying to be perfect... only to discover that people love the imprefection in us more... because we are more human. More relatable.
(forgive this next part, because I'm going to sound like a crystal wearing hippie who does on DMT, talks with Machine Elves, and believes in bing-bong-crazy-things)
Nah. Computer and electrical engineering - physics - math - programming - AI - etc. etc. Normal ENTJ type of a person. And no strong religious bents.
...so:
I've come to the realization that life is a game. Like a video game. If you go down the rabbit hole, you'll discover that no religion is quite perfect -or quite accurate... but there are 10,000 little birds that are all singing the same tune about what happens when we die.
They got there independently..
Different time periods... backgrounds..languages...etc...
But when we do die: it's not the end.
We can argue about whether the earth is a farm - or a nursery... but we are more than our physical selves. And this life business is more us in a car. The body is the car - and we are the driver.
When we die (hopefully no time soon) - we will be greated by friends and loved ones. We have a "soul group" - and this is part of our shared experience together.
I mention this because someday... 30 years? 300? Who knows... we will reach the end of this mortal shell...
Scary? Terror? Darkness? Heaven/Hell ?!?
No - But it isn't the end. It's not what we think.
It's closer to a video game we were playing as a kid. One quarter - one life...
But when we're done - and we reflect - we go again. And again... And again. Until we are ready to leave the nursery.
I think the most important part of this isn't our tech - or what we learn... but the relationships we build - the people we help - and the love we give.
As you turn 50: remember that WHAT we do... (and I love it!) - is really just a necessity to keep the lights on - food on the table - and have the agency to do the great things for the people in our lives.
But really - it's about them. And our own learning - sharing - and loving.
Bing/bong part done.
But I suspect the older you get - and the more success you have - and the more quiet time to reflect - the more you'll end up coming to the same conclusion.
GOOD LUCK! PS - I enjoy reading about your journeys on X.
@ericweinstein Just like South Africa and Ukraine, we will confiscate their nuclear weapons one by one
Makes me wonder if the immigration replacement theory was intentionally set up for exactly this
@johnennis Western medicine is a dystopian nightmare
Either you exercise, eat right, sleep, right, manage your stress
Or you spin the roulette of doom.
If I get truly sick, I’m leaving the US immediately
These people are incompetent
Immigration policy must be driven by the present, not the past, and business leaders are too terrified of the left AND the right to acknowledge this.
Recent H1B discourse revolves around a longstanding immigration sleight-of-hand. H1B proponents point to exceptional people who came here decades ago as if they represent the current state of the program in the same way that advocates for low-skill/illegal immigration point to very favorable immigrant crime/welfare/education/etc statistics that do, in truth, have them beating native-born Americans on many fronts.
It is all a sham. The world that created those statistics, people, and businesses no longer exists. Brilliant but desperate Vietnamese fathers who fled communism have nothing in common with young men from Honduras, and the crime rates/economic acccomplishments/integration of the former should not be used to justify mass migration of the latter.
Nor should the accomplishments of people who managed to get an H1B visa in the 90s (when the program was capped to just 65,000 visas) be used to justify staffing agencies and tech companies using the program to replace American jobs for less money. The obvious abuse going on is politically suicidal and something that even the most ardent supporters of the visa should want to crack down on, no immigration program can possibly survive the obvious and widely known reality of what is going on. I am a longtime outspoken advocate for stealing the best people from other countries to make our own better, runaway abuse of existing programs robs the government of the worker trust required to do so.
Lots of people in the tech space know this. Even the dumb people are smart enough to see it. Nobody actually believes these are all incredible people with unique talents performing jobs no American can. Everyone knows the guy in Cubicle Bay 7 doing mediocre but functional web design for half the salary of his American peers is no savant and doesn't meet the statutory requirements for his H-1B visa.
Unfortunately, most people with power or profile are terrified that any public statement or acknowledgement will get them attacked by the right (You guys have been screwing over American workers for years with visa abuse, you damn hypocrite!) or the left (You are racist, sexist, misogynist, and sucking up to this fascist administration!). Or, more likely, both. I know too many tech execs in particular who feel trapped, like the only winning move is to stay silent.
JD is blowing the whole thing wide open by putting facts and stats front and center that nobody wants to engage with. Critics will talk about anything and everything else but these damning facts and this obvious truth, that H1B visas serve neither their original purpose, legal purpose, invented purpose, or the American people.
@esrtweet@richardmantool There is a false assumption that it's hard to make good video games. Nah.
The Chinese and Koreans don't seem to have these issues.
Indeed, even small shop developers have done outstanding work. Schedule I is a great example: https://t.co/2i3kxT5uWq
@japan_nobunaga The worst decisions are the ones you make without thinking things through.
Like drunk people in a bar.
Go ahead - ruin your life in a thoughtless minute.
Let me explain reality… if you have but sixty seconds:
They were targeting Elon
They were targeting him with fake charges because the socialist-industrial complex is terrified that he would expose their long grift.
They came after him for the Model 3 and Elon’s claims around its potential.
That potential was realized, and it became, along with the Model Y, the best-selling electric vehicle ever created.
These were fake charges to try to stop somebody from building the best category-defining product.
Let that sink in: that's how evil these motherfuckers are.
The loooooong grift has been exposed: socialist grifters are stealing our tax dollars to fund fringe lunacy, NGOs and government programs without oversight or audits.
They’re parasites incapable of creating any product or service that has to compete in the open market.
Elon creates a couple of cutting-edge products each year, and half of them succeed.
Some of them actually change the world. Some of them fail brutally.
It's called capitalism. It's called creation.
This is what moves the human condition forward: trying things.
Trying really hard things.
Socialists come for the people building valuable products and services — that’s the tell
Keep your eye out for the people who've created nothing and risked nothing, but who are attacking the people who risk everything to create Something.
That's the tell.
