We hired a new VP named Michael Lee.
Unfortunately we already have a Michael Lee.
He works in the warehouse.
He's been here 11 years.
New VP gets:
[email protected]
He immediately messages IT.
“Can you move the other Michael to michael.lee2 and give me michael.lee?”
No.
He asks HR.
HR asks me if we can “prioritize seniority.”
I explain that the warehouse Michael has eleven years of email history tied to that address and changing it because someone with a nicer title arrived would be insane.
VP reluctantly keeps the 2.
Warehouse Michael finds out.
Changes his Teams display name to:
Michael Lee (Original)
By Friday the VP is being referred to as Sequel Mike.
He has asked IT to intervene.
Unfortunately nickname management is outside our support scope.
First TypeScript compiler, now GitHub Copilot has been ported to Rust.
I am getting MASSIVE vibes that Microsoft is not taking C# seriously.
If C# isn't good enough, make it good enough!
Interview:
* Design Spotify from scratch
On the job:
* Persuade 7 colleagues to support your decision to delay the project by 2 business days so you can do it in a non-hacky way. Figure out how to turn this into positive quantifiable impact for your next performance review.
Nothing works!
You can press STOP.
You can block them.
You can be on the DND list.
If @WhatsApp and @kunalb11 want the app to succeed, they need to curb its misuse by brands and fintech institutions.
They’re losing Gen Z already. People like me are tied to the app for business communication with external vendors, but I’m constantly looking for a way out.
For my first post, I’m sharing a letter @NVIDIA signed on why open models matter.
AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country.
Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty.
The world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models.

@nickchapsas I really want to know about the testing question asked - if a test suit is so good that 1 million lines of AI code can be trusted why it was not good enough to fix the existing bugs?
Interesting take on Fable vs GPT-5.6 Sol. From a dev at a large, and "AI-bullish" company, spending $$$ on AI:
"Anthropic has not changed their data retention policy on Fable, meaning they would store our data. So we cannot use it.
We're going HARD on GPT-5.6 Sol as a result."
It's just naive to think that if Software and MBA Jobs are gone then welding, plumbing and electrican work will still be in demand.
When people lose job, they're not going to use an app to book an electrician to fix a fan and pay 500 for that, they'll most probably watch a YouTube video and do it themselves.
In short, if high paying Software and MBA jobs are gone, many things will go away from economy, including Govt tax revenues and demand for electrician, plumber etc.
