We hear a lot of things in our bookstores. Things that make us laugh, cry, and most often, facepalm.

My local women’s shelter invited me for a tour and y’all, they are DYING for kids’ books. This is a shelter for survivors of violence and the kids staying there have few entertainment options.
Does anyone have spare ARCs or author copies of MG or picture books to donate?
Pls RT
Overheard:"When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?"
"I wanted to run away & live in the library, like the kids who lived in the museum in 'From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler'. But living in a bookstore was my second pick."@overheardindie
@jchristie @MarindaReads Other customer: Do you have the book about two guys wandering around looking for work, and one of them kills bunnies.
Clerk: ...?
Me: ... Of Mice and Men?
Clerk: Oh! I was thinking of something by Palahniuk!
Customer: Do you have Being & Time by Sartre?
Us: You mean Being & Nothingness?
Customer: No. Being & Time.
Us: By Heidegger?
Customer: Heidegger?
Us: Yes. The author of Being & Time.
Customer: I'm looking for Sartre.
Us: Ok, we’re gonna have to ask you to leave.
@jchristie Customer: I'm looking for a recent bestseller with "stars" in the title. I don't know the author.
Me: There's a few! Could you tell me more about the book?
C: I think it's about the Dust Bowl.
M: "The Four Winds" by Kristin Hannah?
C: That's the one!
Stars?!
Overheard in the indie bookstore:
“Im looking for that book you have in the window”
“Which book?”
“I don’t remember “
“Who was the author?”
“He’s German. Or Finnish”
Reader, they found it!
Overheard in a bookstore yesterday someone asking how long it would take to get a book. The bookseller said it would take 3-5 days, and the response was, "Nevermind, I'll just Prime it." Really? Why would you do this? Ugh. USE YOUR INDIE BOOKSTORE PEOPLE, THEY'RE YOUR FRIENDS!
No, we don’t have any of the recalled Dr. Seuss books and why are you suddenly trying to buy them now that you found out they have racist imagery, you weirdos.
RT @TridentBooks: "From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs Basil E Frankweiler" was a formative book for me. Unfortunately, when I expressed my desire to move to a museum my mother pointed out we lived in the suburbs and there was no way for me to get to one by myself
