@lukebelmar The whole @opnetbtc@motoswap cult is the most underrated🐈⬛🛵
ACTUALLY enabling smart contract programmability on Bitcoin L1 allowing a true DeFi summer
Everyone in their knows what’s cooking👨🏻🍳
u should check it out if you like money Luke
So if Ukraine signs a peace deal, will Canada still provide $5B to Ukraine.. Canada should stop being a big brother.. BB business is total BS.. Canada need to focus on healing & self-improvement... everything else is NOISE
What is DeFi?
DeFi (Decentralized Finance) refers to a system where financial services—such as lending, borrowing, trading, and earning interest—operate without banks or centralized intermediaries. Instead, these services run on smart contracts on blockchain networks like Ethereum.
What Can You Do with DeFi?
- Lend and Borrow: Earn interest by lending crypto or borrow without a traditional bank.
- Trade Without an Exchange: Use decentralized exchanges (DEX) like Uniswap to trade directly with others.
- Earn Passive Income: Provide liquidity to DeFi protocols and earn rewards.
- Use Stablecoins: Digital currencies like DAI are pegged to the dollar, allowing for stable transactions without banks.
Why Is DeFi Mostly on Ethereum?
Ethereum supports smart contracts, which are automated blockchain programs that execute financial transactions without third parties. Bitcoin's Layer 1 (its base layer) has very limited smart contract functionality, making DeFi difficult to implement directly on it.
What If DeFi Was Available on Bitcoin Layer 1?
If Bitcoin could natively support DeFi on its main layer, it would be a game-changer:
1. More Financial Services on Bitcoin
- Users could lend, borrow, and earn interest directly on the Bitcoin blockchain without relying on external networks like Stacks or RSK.
2. Increased Bitcoin Utility
- Instead of just being a store of value, Bitcoin could also be actively used in financial applications.
3. Greater Security and Less Risk of Hacks
- Ethereum-based DeFi is vulnerable to smart contract exploits. Bitcoin’s Layer 1 is extremely secure, which could make DeFi applications safer.
4. Less Dependence on Altcoins
- Currently, DeFi users need Ethereum or other tokens. If Bitcoin supported DeFi, BTC itself could become the primary asset for decentralized finance.
5. New Innovation and Ecosystem Growth
- DeFi on Bitcoin would attract developers, investors, and new applications, strengthening Bitcoin’s position in the crypto space.
Is This Possible?
Building DeFi directly on Bitcoin Layer 1 is technically very difficult because Bitcoin does not support advanced smart contracts like Ethereum. However, there are some potential solutions:
- Enhancing Bitcoin's scripting capabilities.
- Using Layer 2 solutions like Stacks, RSK, or Lightning Network to enable DeFi-like functionality.
Right now, Bitcoin remains a highly secure store of value, but if DeFi could run directly on its Layer 1, it could revolutionize the crypto space.
What if I told you this existed. And that it was going live. And it was accessible to everyone? Would you believe me?
Study @opnetbtc
Canada needs a DOGE @PierrePoilievre btw Canada spending 5 billion on Ukraine.. Lorde!! when Canadians are struggling at home.. don't repeat this idiocy.. Canada first..
I love you @motoswap but next time Imajiin you are talking to 15 yr olds... May be a whole animated video on today vs the tomorrow with @opnet & @motoswap will be very helpful... What do ya say?
