LSU head coach Brian Kelly was fired yesterday. But as people look back on his career, it’s worth remembering one of the darkest moments under his watch at Notre Dame.

15 years ago today, 20-year-old student videographer Declan Sullivan was killed after the scissor lift he was filming practice from fell in 50+ mph winds.

Kelly chose to hold practice outdoors that day despite dangerous weather warnings and the lift wasn’t supposed to be used in winds above 28 mph.

So many people go into building successful programs whether it’s football, volleyball, or any sport and it’s important that schools everywhere continue to prioritize their safety and well-being. They truly make a huge difference.
