I think the mass proliferation of print on demand has been disastrous to independent publishing. Haul a xerox machine out of a church basement! Buy a long arm stapler! Print on the clock at work! Steal office supplies from your work!!

I know that "the film look" [a caricature thereof] is the hammer of the moment to which everything else is a nail, but this is exemplary of why things like "more contrast!" and "more saturation!!" aren't an inherent good. It's clear Villeneuve/Fraser didn't compose around it.

@alicealeph0 I got really fixated on the Marianne Faithfull version of. Baby Blue. There's a really devastating live recording of Sandy Denny doing Knockin' on Heaven's Door. All the Fairport-orbit covers are great.

@SSSpittingCobra I see text on torn paper texture all of the time in design around my work, the designer works exclusively in c*nva. I often have to reconstruct strange mockups as web assets and it is... a headache. I think those templates have been a disaster for design broadly.
