One of the wildest stats in sports:
This is the 46TH CONSECUTIVE SEASON in which a former teammate of Jaromir Jagr has appeared in the Stanley Cup Final.
This year, it's Golden Knights defenseman Rasmus Andersson, who played with Jágr in Calgary in 2017-18.
@CBSScottWhite@caldwell_aaron I think you’re missing the larger point. For them it’s the equivalent of you committing to an extra $20 a month for something like premium streaming but instead of you not having to watch commercials their pocket change creates an added happiness value for millions of people 🤷♂️
Aside from the fact that this is awful, awkward television, it’s also just ahistorical.
In his 4 years in Houston, Chuck averaged 16-12-4, including averaging 18 & 12 during a run to the Western Conference Finals.
Draymond continues to recreate history.
@GregFitzShow listening to a pod you did in Jan, but had a very similar experience trying to find a therapist w the same insurance co. Ended up w someone still getting their hours to get licensed but is good. Best of luck man the whole system is garbage.
For us sports fans of a certain age, the sports section of the newspaper taught us how to read. I didn’t grow up with the Washington Post sports section, but I did grow up because of it. Today’s a sad day for my friends and for all of us.
There is a chorus of grief today from those of us who work, or worked, at ESPN
Howie Schwab was an unlikely on-air cult figure but long before then he was one of those who truly built the place: diligent, professional, and more importantly endlessly friendly and supportive to everybody (including the new, lost, anchor in from LA, or the prodigal anchor returning 20 years later)
Simply, ESPN never rises to the heights it did, nor exists today, without him. He died this morning and the memorials and "#RIPs" are insufficient - but they'll have to do.
And as the creator of the research department he'd have been satisfied: the description of his impact, and of the uniform grief at his loss, were both succinct and accurate.
Thank you, Howie.
