My colleagues @RosalindZAdams@haideechu at @THECITYNY spent the past several months tracking hundreds of ICE street arrests across the region through federal court records...🧵🧵
We examined six years of @nielsen data to understand what TV people are streaming -- and how their tastes have changed.
Going to share some takeaways, starting with a biggie:
Hollywood is delivering fewer new hit TV shows than any time in recent history.
@C_Sommerfeldt@SallyGold It’s not exactly customary for mayors to meet with the president about an affordability agenda (of which they *may eventually* find themselves aligned). Even less customary to have a million voters behind it.
Two great op-eds in the @NYDailyNews this morning. This one from @SaraL4man on what the progressives get right and the establishment gets wrong. https://t.co/wWV5NxPR1d
In 2014, we didn't really know who the commissioners and deputy mayors would be until months after de Blasio took office. It would be great to have an idea of the people that would make up our government before we vote on them. Great piece by @meeracjoshi. https://t.co/kLte1vDuiF
Instead of a 3-hour drive, BETA Technologies is flying people on electric power. CEO Kyle Clark tells NYNext how low-cost, electric flights could change how we move through the world.
@RossBarkan 38 states have smaller populations than NYC. So… yeah, it could still be a low-turnout primary even if more people vote here than in Massachusetts or Wyoming or wherever.
My latest post is out. Click below for a few D.C. updates, the latest on debanking, the end of reputation risk, a potential start to regulating banker comp, the rise of yield-bearing stablecoins, and a few other crypto updates, all in a five minute read.
@SamAntar@NewYorkStateAG@NYCFinance 3/3 Besides, the payer doesn’t play a role in this. Because of NYC’s caps on increases, we’re permanently catching up for gains from the 80s/90s. Unless the value of this building dropped all the way down to $345,000 it has no impact on the taxes she pays whatsoever.
@SamAntar@NewYorkStateAG@NYCFinance 2/3 It's a very rough way to assess value (unlike sales or income capitalization). Because there are few comps and expenses are ignored, little assessment changes can have unpredictable results, even if none of it impacts taxes whatsoever.
@jmart@SallyGold I think the average either does not care, or does not think the Dems have moral high ground to say a word on the matter (and the die hards are impressed with how he’s bent these former detractors to his will).
Not sure what the theme is here, but Annie Lennox's "Walking on Broken Glass" was just playing as the warm up music for @GovKathyHochul 's 2025 State of the State address, just ahead of a high school band.
@TweetBenMax A round-trip peak ticket from my town to Grand Central is $30.50, plus parking at the station. For commuter rail riders, I can’t imagine anything other than things reverting to the status quo once people realize how relatively inexpensive the congestion charge is.
