I think that Cerebras is the Roger Bannister of inference. I imagine that both Nvidia and Apple will release something with a similar memory architecture in the next 12 month.
I'm very excited to get access to Ultrafast when it becomes available.
When I was a teen, the AFI came up with a list of their 100 greatest movies. I acquired a poster, probably from Blockbuster Video, and put it up in my room.
Two friends and I worked through most of this list, putting our initials next to the movie name on the poster. It was fun
This is an extreme action and a dramatic escalation from the Trump administration, unprecedented in the world of software and AI models. I expect it will be challenged in court and it suggests that the Trump administration has taken a steep anti-AI turn. Not sure what @DavidSacks or PCAST is doing, but this is worrisome and much more extreme than the Biden administration or what any US state has done. Strange to see this administration go from 100 to 0 on AI policy and I hope this is quickly reversed.
My prediction is that it will be direct sales and direct marketing. Basically, any company with a tight feedback between an outcome (sales) and an indvidiual worker's activity can justify spending thousands per month per person.
Per developer spend on AI inference at startups is now passing 10k USD per year. Some startups spend 10x that.
What industry will sees this sort of spend on AI inference next?
I'm finding that GPT 5.5 works better with Cursor than Claude 4.7.
Claude+Cursor seems to get "stuck", where I can't see the work that its doing. Sometimes it finishes executing, but I need to interrupt it to find out that the work was completed.
I wonder when compute and memory futures and options will be traded.
Data centers aren’t fungible but the value creation enabled by allowing speculators to de-risk the labs is huge.
We’re not there yet but, just keep it in mind if, say, you see the head of ICE doing things likely to put her in jail after a transition of power.
It’s a reason why the legality of the ICE operations is relevant to all Americans.
I’m thinking about leading indicators that would predict whether there will be a peaceful change of power from the Trump administration to an opposition administration.
If key member of the cabinet are facing jail time when power transitions, they will create an information vacuum around Trump, leading him to declare an emergency, martial law etc.
With the users consent, the image is watermarked as being generated directly from that specific iPhone, and not tampered. There's likely ways to also associate the watermark as being generated directly by an iPhone, for example by maintaining a list of iPhone public keys.
Generative AI is creating unprecedented document fraud. Apple is uniquely positioned to curb this fraud by using hardware to cryptographically sign photographs.
For privacy reasons, this feature would be disabled by default, and would only be enabled when photographs were taken from a specific app.
It would work like this:
A chip on an iPhone would store a public key. The private key would be in hardware, and inaccessible.
Expense management iOS apps like Brex would prompt the user for permission to take photographs that can be associated with the phone.
When taking pictures through the app, iOS would prompt the user with, "Should this photo be associated with this device?"
