Delighted to welcome @FCDOGovUK PUS, Nick Dyer, to Brussels for the inaugural UK-EU information exchanges on Development and Humanitarian issues ๐ฌ๐ง๐ช๐บ

These exchanges aim to strengthen UK-EU cooperation in a more volatile, complex and resource-constrained global context ๐
If Andy Burnham, who studied English at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, becomes prime minister he will break a remarkable run of prime ministers who went to Oxford University.
Since 1945, 14 out of 18 went to Oxford, the exceptions being Gordon Brown (Edinburgh) and Winston Churchill, James Callaghan and John Major, who didnโt go to university at all.
๐ The last Cambridge-educated PM was Stanley Baldwin, who left office in 1937
๐ In all, Cambridge has produced 14 prime ministers against Oxfordโs 31
๐ Edinburgh and Glasgow have each produced three, while eight did not attend any university

It was a pleasure to host Angela Merkel this morning at the @AtlanticPARTN.
As one of the most influential European political leaders of the past two decades, she has helped shape many of the debates that continue to define Europe today.

@KennyFarq@MarkStephens64 Having looked into this, Elish Angiolini may be unavailable as she is conducting a public inquiry into David Carrick following on from the Sarah Everard inquiry - but agree that someone of her calibre could chair a review:
Delighted to attend the General Assembly @churchscotland this morning and meet the Moderator Rt Rev Gordon Kennedy and the Lord High Commissioner Lady Eilish Angiolini. The Church is an important voice in the land.
The net zero economy now supports 1.1m UK jobs and generates ยฃ105bn in economic value - proof that tackling climate change & growing the economy can go hand in hand.
Carbon Budget 7 laid in Parliament today provides certainty to help unlock more investment and energy security.
A genuine sub-theme of these files is the amount of time Mandelson spends lobbying serving ministers to vote for him to become Oxford Chancellor. Even suggesting Hague's campaign is "CCHQ backed"!
@lanarkboy@yuanyi_z@LordThurlow Hearing rumours from reliable source that 'Prince of Darkness' Peter Mandelson likely Labour candidate for Oxf Chancellor election. Any word on Tory candidate? Theresa May often mentioned and William Hague has given several talks in Oxf recently.

Enjoyed speaking to business leaders at @PwC Alliances Summit last week about navigating uncertainty in a world being reshaped by geopolitics & AI.
As these forces converge, it is more important than ever to defend the values that underpin democracy, trust and free enterprise.
