Building on this important spotlight from Picterus Newborn Health, we are proud to continue advancing Project Oscar – Light for Life with partners committed to strengthening early detection and management of neonatal jaundice in Nigeria.

Neonatal jaundice affects the majority of newborns globally and can lead to severe complications if not detected early. Through Project Oscar, The Wellbeing Foundation Africa Foundation Africa is working to ensure that frontline health workers have the tools, training, and systems needed to identify at-risk babies early and connect them to timely care.

Our collaboration demonstrates what is possible when innovation, health systems strengthening, and community-based maternal and newborn programmes come together to close gaps in newborn survival.

From screening innovations to caregiver awareness and referral pathways, this work is about one simple outcome:
Every newborn deserves a healthy start to life.

We look forward to scaling impact with government stakeholders, health facilities, and global partners as we continue to expand access to life-saving newborn care solutions.

At the Wellbeing Foundation Africa, we are proud to be advancing this important collaboration with Picterus Newborn Health under Project Oscar – Light for Life.

Neonatal jaundice remains one of the most overlooked yet preventable contributors to newborn disability and mortality across many low- and middle-income countries. In Nigeria particularly, the challenge is not only clinical — it is systemic: early detection gaps, limited diagnostic tools, delayed referrals, and low community awareness.

Through Project Oscar – Light for Life, WBFA and partners are working to close these gaps through an integrated health-system strengthening approach implemented in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Health and frontline healthcare providers.

Our work brings together:
• Standardized newborn screening within routine care.
• Capacity building for healthcare workers across multiple levels of the system.
• Digital innovation to support early identification of newborns at risk.
• Community education to promote timely care-seeking.
• Data generation to guide policy, scale, and investment.

The introduction of Picterus’ digital screening technology into this ecosystem is an important step toward making early detection more accessible, more consistent, and more scalable. What makes partnerships like this particularly important is their ability to generate implementation evidence — demonstrating how innovation can be embedded into real health systems and reach the families who need it most.

At WBFA, we remain committed to working with governments, innovators, and global partners to ensure that preventable conditions like severe neonatal jaundice no longer determine a child’s future.

This collaboration represents not only progress for Nigeria, but also an opportunity to inform scalable solutions for newborn health across similar settings globally.

Another year blessed to see Ramadan in couple of days, as we plan, reflect, hope, promise, wish and pray for the best of it to not leave us. We will fall into the realm of trust and love Allah promises us as we submit to him.

But remember, when it hits you and you see a glimpse of righteousness, at the point when the overwhelming realization of what a part of this life means flashes right in front of you, smile, cry, fall, in all your might and *nothingness*.
Do not forget it and hold to a fraction of it before you fall back to your oblivion.

“And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a measure.”
— Qur'an 65:3

O Allah,
Grant us Muslims the clarity in our decisions, sincerity in our intentions, and excellence in our actions.
Place barakah in our work, wisdom in our words, and peace in our hearts.
Protect us from anxiety over what we cannot control,
And strengthen our trust in You for what is unseen.
Make us a source of benefit to others,
A bridge for peace,
And a vessel of integrity wherever we stand.
Forgive our shortcomings, guide our steps,
And let today bring us closer to You
Āmīn. 🤲

وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوْ قَاعِدًا أَوْ قَآئِمًۭا فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمْ يَدْعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرٍّۢ مَّسَّهُۥ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
Qur'an 10:12 (Yunus)
Whenever someone is touched by hardship, they cry out to Us, whether lying on their side, sitting, or standing. But when We relieve their hardship, they return to their old ways as if they had never cried to Us to remove any hardship! This is how the misdeeds of the transgressors have been made appealing to them.

As we settle and prepare for another blessed Jummu'ah. Let us remind ourselves of the sincerity of the worship of Allah, and our call to him in our best moments are as same to our worst moment and to never leave His trust in attending to our affairs.

May His mercy continue to fill our heart with his love and submission to His guidance.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ سَبَقَتۡ لَهُم مِّنَّا ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰٓ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ عَنۡهَا مُبۡعَدُونَ
Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us - they are from it far removed.
Q21:101

لَا يَسۡمَعُونَ حَسِيسَهَاۖ وَهُمۡ فِي مَا ٱشۡتَهَتۡ أَنفُسُهُمۡ خَٰلِدُونَ
They will not hear its sound, while they are, in that which their souls desire, abiding eternally.
Q21:102

لَا يَحۡزُنُهُمُ ٱلۡفَزَعُ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ هَٰذَا يَوۡمُكُمُ ٱلَّذِي كُنتُمۡ تُوعَدُونَ
They will not be grieved by the greatest terror, and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised" -
Q21:103

يَوۡمَ نَطۡوِي ٱلسَّمَآءَ كَطَيِّ ٱلسِّجِلِّ لِلۡكُتُبِۚ كَمَا بَدَأۡنَآ أَوَّلَ خَلۡقٖ نُّعِيدُهُۥۚ وَعۡدًا عَلَيۡنَآۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا فَٰعِلِينَ

The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.
Q21:104

وَلَقَدۡ كَتَبۡنَا فِي ٱلزَّبُورِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱلذِّكۡرِ أَنَّ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ يَرِثُهَا عِبَادِيَ ٱلصَّٰلِحُونَ
And We have already written in the book [of Psalms] after the [previous] mention that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants.
Q21:105

إِنَّ فِي هَٰذَا لَبَلَٰغٗا لِّقَوۡمٍ عَٰبِدِينَ
Indeed, in this [Qur'an] is notification for a worshipping people.
Q21:106
وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ إِلَّا رَحۡمَةٗ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.
Q21:107

قُلۡ إِنَّمَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمۡ إِلَٰهٞ وَٰحِدٞۖ فَهَلۡ أَنتُم مُّسۡلِمُونَ ١٠٨
Say, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]?"
Q21:108

فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَقُلۡ ءَاذَنتُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ سَوَآءٖۖ وَإِنۡ أَدۡرِيٓ أَقَرِيبٌ أَم بَعِيدٞ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ
But if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally. And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised.
Q21:109

إِنَّهُۥ يَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡجَهۡرَ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا تَكۡتُمُونَ
Indeed, He knows what is declared of speech, and He knows what you conceal.
Q21:110
وَإِنۡ أَدۡرِي لَعَلَّهُۥ فِتۡنَةٞ لَّكُمۡ وَمَتَٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٖ

And I know not; perhaps it is a trial for you and enjoyment for a time."
Q21:111

قَٰلَ رَبِّ ٱحۡكُم بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَرَبُّنَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ ٱلۡمُسۡتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ
[The Prophet] has said, "My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that which you describe."
Q21:112

وَلَمَّا دَخَلُواْ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ ءَاوَىٰٓ إِلَيۡهِ أَخَاهُۖ قَالَ إِنِّيٓ أَنَا۠ أَخُوكَ فَلَا تَبۡتَئِسۡ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ

وَٱلَّتِيٓ أَحۡصَنَتۡ فَرۡجَهَا فَنَفَخۡنَا فِيهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا وَجَعَلۡنَٰهَا وَٱبۡنَهَآ ءَايَةٗ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity, so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel [Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.
Q21:91

إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمۡ أُمَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ
Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.
Q21:92

وَتَقَطَّعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَهُم بَيۡنَهُمۡۖ كُلٌّ إِلَيۡنَا رَٰجِعُونَ
And [yet] they divided their affair among themselves, [but] all to Us will return.
Q21:93

فَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنٞ فَلَا كُفۡرَانَ لِسَعۡيِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ كَٰتِبُونَ
So whoever does righteous deeds while he is a believer - no denial will there be for his effort, and indeed We, of it, are recorders.
Q21:94
وَحَرَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ قَرۡيَةٍ أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهَآ أَنَّهُمۡ لَا يَرۡجِعُونَ
And there is prohibition upon [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return
Q21:95

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فُتِحَتۡ يَأۡجُوجُ وَمَأۡجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن كُلِّ حَدَبٖ يَنسِلُونَ
Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend
Q21:96

وَٱقۡتَرَبَ ٱلۡوَعۡدُ ٱلۡحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِيَ شَٰخِصَةٌ أَبۡصَٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يَٰوَيۡلَنَا قَدۡ كُنَّا فِي غَفۡلَةٖ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا بَلۡ كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ
And [when] the true promise has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers."
Q21:97

إِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنتُمۡ لَهَا وَٰرِدُونَ
Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allah are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.
Q21:98
لَوۡ كَانَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ءَالِهَةٗ مَّا وَرَدُوهَاۖ وَكُلّٞ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ
Had these [false deities] been [actual] gods, they would not have come to it, but all are eternal therein.
Q21:99

لَهُمۡ فِيهَا زَفِيرٞ وَهُمۡ فِيهَا لَا يَسۡمَعُونَ
For them therein is heavy sighing, and they therein will not hear.
