I made a new blog post: what Bitcoin Core does when a peer sends a TX message tracing the full path from message to the mempool.

This was a big block for solo ckpool, as it was the first Bip54 forward compatible block, first from the updated json + performance upgrades, first to use the new block propagation network I deployed, and first to use the new IPC notifier in bitcoin core. I've been busy. https://t.co/na3ZetSY5a
The @ChaincodeLabs BOSS Challenge may be over, but the building continues! Check out these incredible portfolio projects that participants worked on during the program 👇

I needed to understand merge mining for a particular research direction I am pursuing (stale blocks), so created the following visualisation-rich piece on the topic.
Hoping this makes it easier for some to grok how it all works, especially AuxPoW!

1) A small magnifying tool used by jewelers to detect imperfections in gemstones.
2) An AI-powered vulnerability scanner for open-source bitcoin projects, designed by Block and Spiral to surface flaws before attackers do.

Posted a "new" project-idea about monitoring Bitcoin DNS seeds. @vir7u had a project doing this a while ago, but the data hasn't been updating since end of 2024. Would be good to have a tool again and someone looking into it.

We're incredibly thrilled to welcome Clara Shikhelman (@ClaraShik) to our team at [[alloc] init]!
Clara joins as Head of Protocol Research, where she'll lead our efforts to design novel Bitcoin protocols using PIPEs. Driven by a shared conviction that cryptography and PIPEs-based protocols will expand Bitcoin's capabilities, she is excited to introduce new possibilities for builders and deliver real value for users.
Previously Head of Research at @ChaincodeLabs, she led research across Bitcoin and the Lightning Network — including foundational work on jamming attack mitigations, quantum computing risks to Bitcoin, and bridging academic research with open source development. Her background includes a PhD in Mathematics from Tel Aviv University, underpinning a research approach that combines rigorous theory with practical systems design.
Her research and publications can be found at: https://t.co/AxrIt7bR6Q
Her work has been featured in @BitcoinMagazine, @PresidioBitcoin, @CoinDesk, and elsewhere.
Welcome, Clara — we're excited to build with you.
Nominations are open for the 2026 Bitcoin Research Prize!
Submit papers that made an impact on Bitcoin or Lightning published after 2022: https://t.co/MKTSfycj4b
Have you (co)authored any papers that fit this criteria? Submissions are anonymous 😉
hey @jgarzik, do you still happen to have a copy of "chain-db48-h225429.tar.bz2" from https://t.co/cYrANCOAiY ?
I know this is a long shot. We're looking for it for a historical stale/fork block dataset: https://t.co/svxG3izPLH

Our Quantum Bitcoin Summit last July helped push bitcoin’s quantum discussion forward.
Today we're publishing Bitcoin's Quantum Readiness, a living paper on bitcoin's exposure, mitigation menu, upgrade paths, and plausible transition scenarios. 🧵👇

How Big Is Too Big?
That's what she said.
It's also what we're grappling with when implementing post-quantum cryptography in blockchains.
Check out our new tool to visualize how big and slow some of these signature schemes really are.
There are no solutions; only tradeoffs.
🚨 New Resource for the Bitcoin Community: Bitcoin’s CRQC Response Playbook from @ozdeadman 🚨
A must-read if you care about Bitcoin’s future under quantum threats. The “CRQC Response Playbook” assumes quantum computers will become powerful enough to break ECC, and lays out a concrete, realistic framework for how Bitcoin can prepare.
🔑 What this playbook does:
- Defines an activation signal (when a ~100 logical-qubit quantum computer is publicly demonstrated) to trigger response steps.
- Maps the threat: exposed public keys = millions in BTC at risk.
- Proposes objectives like forward protection, migration strategies, and ensuring network continuity.
🛠 How it would work:
- New consensus rules to prevent creation of quantum‐vulnerable address types.
- Migration tools (e.g. Commit-Delay-Reveal, Lifeboat) for funds in “hash-protected non-reused” addresses.
- Handling existing vulnerable BTC (P2PK & addresses with exposed public keys) via strategy debates like burn vs allow unrestricted stealing vs Hourglass approach.
👥 Who’s involved:
- Core Devs: implement new address rules, migration protocols, post-quantum signature schemes.
- Cryptographers: pick the post-quantum scheme(s), test them, evaluate trade-offs.
- Communications Team: clarity, transparency, guiding everyone through the transition, helping users and services adapt.
📆 Timeline:
- Basic quantum resistance ~4-5 months after trigger. Full migration stretched out to ~12 months.
How should Bitcoiners react if quantum computers become a reality quicker than expected? The best time to plan is when you have the time to plan! Together with @ozdeadman we put together this playbook. What do you think we got right? What did we miss?
