I think a lot of companies declaring they’re now “remote” are gonna hit an abrupt cultural wake-up call if they allow folks to ever return to an office. It’s very hard to mix paradigms and if it isn’t done thoughtfully, the WFH folks are going to quickly feel 2nd class again.

@BjoernRochel The tweet from @dhh is misleading. Although I think that basecamp is doing that across the world, Spotify is defining diff ranges per country. So, they might use NY and SF as a reference for salaries in the US, but not for other countries.

Friend passed Netflix interviews. Netflix asked what their salary expectation was. Friend said $X.

Netflix Made an offer of $X + 20%. Said “we know your market value is at least this and you’ll be worth every penny.”

Not for everyone but Netflix is a decidedly different league.

Apart from the pandemic that affected the entire world and population, I am one of those that will remember 2020 on a positive way. I was not only lucky to have my first son but also lucky to have the opportunity to be fully dedicated to him for half a year.

@BjoernRochel Do they also like to deal with css, cross-browser issues and so on or they leaver that part to the frontend developers? As we already said, there is no "one-size-fits-all"

@BjoernRochel E.g. the best java developer has a completely different mindset/skillset than an Android developer, of course that a good developer will get used to react/iOS or Android after some time, but probably he/she will still prefer the backend and will never want to do a "fullstack" job
