تکراری بودن خیلی چیزها حوصله‌سربر شده.
مثلا چندوقت بعد دوباره دستورالعمل اطلاعات سپاه یا واجا برای "از دموکراسی گفتن" منتشر میشه، ولی شما الان فکر میکنی واقعا داری سر آینده سیاسی با اینها بحث منطقی میکنی‌!
تنها سوال مهم الان: چه نوعی از خشونت تروریستها رو فلج میکنه و موثره؟

زور خیابون در همین حد بود که دیدیم. تلاش برای تکرار کردنش همون طرز فکر امواج انسانی سپاه تروریست در جنگ با عراق هست.
به چیزی که میخواستیم تا حد زیادی رسیدیم با تاوان سنگین؛ هنوز هم ادامه داره. از اینجا به بعد خشونت/سلاح باید خیلی "هدفمند" و برای فلج کردن اداره کشور استفاده بشه.

شکست از نیروی خارجی باید خُردکننده و برگشت‌ناپذیر باشد.
عملیات طوفان صحرا "گارد جمهوری" (نیروی نظامی نخبه عراق) را نابود نکرد.
صدام انتقام کویت را از شیعیان و کردها گرفت: در جنوب ۲۰هزار شورشی شیعه کشت و در شمال کُردها را از ترس تکرار اَنفال آواره کوه‌های ترکیه کرد.

We have decades—or more—of studies on what makes totalitarianism work. Some of the world’s best intellectuals were trapped in the Soviet Union. We have seen multiple instances of the rise and fall of totalitarian regimes. Germany fell into it in 1933 and, arguably, much of the country only escaped totalitarianism around 1989. All of Chinese society descended into madness for years during the Cultural Revolution.

The naïve view is that it is a top-down phenomenon driven by a few powerful individuals. Iran fell to Islamism because of one particularly charismatic and cruel leader; the same for Germany, and so on. But that is not the case at all.

Totalitarianism is essentially a software bug—a mathematical phenomenon. It is the ultimate game-theory challenge. Totalitarian thought acquires a life of its own. It resembles how all teenagers suddenly start wearing the same type of jeans at the same time, but at a much greater scale.

You imagine that, if you lived in Iran, you would have openly fought the regime every day for the past ten years. You imagine that, in 1938 Berlin, you would have stood up for the Jews. But you most likely would not have.

And what if you had been a powerful person—say, the mayor of Tehran? Then you could have easily done something? No. That is the whole point: the entire society is captured, which is why it is totalitarian.

It is not eternal and can collapse, but not easily and not predictably.

The key lesson is that you are likely no better in this regard than the Iranians.

How do you fight? It seems that the most effective counter-totalitarian technique is an minimally coordinated collection of small networks. That is, you make the system fragile from the ground up a bit like multiple infections and parasites can take down a beast.

It is easy for the Iranian government to control a TV network. It is significantly more difficult to break multiple informal systems.
