After investigating how the @NASA_Orion spacecraft’s heat shield fared during the Artemis I mission to the Moon, we are confidently preparing for Artemis II with the heat shield already attached to the capsule.
#Artemis II is now targeted for April 2026. https://t.co/o1i0nxU9VQ

So many cool little things in this short timelapse . . .
* a cosmonaut turns off the lights inside the Soyuz
* the lights of San Francisco reflect off the Soyuz solar arrays before we see San Francisco
* San Francisco Bay Area
* different layers of the atmosphere are seen in green and orange
* Milky Way core
I got greedy with ISO to see Milky Way core and the cities ended up being way over exposed.
28mm, f1.4, ISO12800, 0.8s exposure, timelapse 1 sec intervals.
Timelapse of the moon setting into streams of red and green aurora followed by a sunrise lighting up Soyuz with a light blue.
The aurora have been amazing the past few days. Great timing for trying out a new lens that recently arrived on Cygnus.
15mm, T1.8, 1/3s exposure, 1/2 s interval
The moon makes it way towards the horizon to set amongst red and green aurora . . . I was setup in a different window and saw this through another window. I made a quick camera, camera mount, and shroud teardown and setup. Felt so lucky to grab this shot.
15mm, T1.8, 1s, ISO 6400
We received a cargo shipment this week with lots of cool stuff to include some new camera lenses . . . spent a good part of the weekend with a 15mm, T1.8 lens. Made a whole bunch of timelapses. Still looking though 1000s of frames, lots of which have aurora but the milky way in this one stood out.
15mm, T1.8, 0.8s, ISO 25600 (embracing noise - but then denoised in photoshop).
