Virginia Tech, my Alma mater for both undergrad and grad school, was holding their spring football game today at Lane Stadium.

They opened the game with jumpers parachuting in with the American flag during the pre-game. This happened. I’ve dropped a million jumpers over the years, looks like the winds were too much. This jumper was rescued by the Blacksburg Fire Department. He’s ok.

I was there for this. My kids were extremely excited for the skydivers so I had my eyes on the plane as soon as it was spotted in the sky. They dropped streamers out of the plane 20-30 minutes prior to the jump and the streamers drifted WAY off course, landed nowhere close to the stadium. The first skydiver was able to land safely but it was rocky. Second skydiver bailed out of the stadium landing and landed behind it on the practice field. Third skydiver was not as lucky. I’m no expert, but the wind seemed way too high for them to be cleared to jump.
