Today, on this somber day of 27th February 1978, we remember and honor the legacy of Mangaliso Robert Sobukwe, the founding President of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC). A political heavyweight, as Verwoerd once admitted, Sobukwe was more than just a leader; he was a visionary who saw beyond the chains of oppression, embodying the very essence of struggle and resistance. Banished to Kimberley, he remained a beacon of hope and resilience to the very end. Steve Biko revered him as 'Thixo' - a god among men, for his indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to our liberation. Sobukwe was not just our  leader; he was a wonder, a 'Mangaliso', whose legacy will forever inspire our fight for freedom and return of the land to Africans.

📢 The reserve bank must be accountable.

Ahead of the announcement of the new repo rate by Mr Lesetja Kanyago of the South African Reserve Bank, we believe it is crucial for him to address the collusive actions of banks that devalued the Rand against the dollar. This is an opportunity for Mr Kanyago to salvage his battered image in the Phala Phala investigation.

👉 The PAC urges Mr Kanyago to reflect on the steps the Reserve Bank will take to hold these banks accountable for their actions. It is time for justice to prevail and for the perpetrators to face the consequences of their unethical behavior.
