A Stalemate for other reasons

Every report shows the Russian forces advancing slowly but constantly on the front, in an attrition war of exhaustion, where some companies are making rivers of money.

Why should Putin accept negotiations now, with military advantage and a growing industrial capacity? The frozen Russian assets and the sanctions are the only things that the West has on the table to negotiate. If this is a taboo, obviously we can expect the Russians to continue the war and gradually occupy more land.

Unless the West is ready to discuss not only Ukrainian territorial concessions but also the frozen assets and the sanctions, Putin has no motivation to sit at the negotiations table.

From the Western side, the lack of will to negotiate comes from other interests.

For example, Rheinmetall will deliver 333,333 rounds of ammunition at an average price of 3,600 euros per round as part of a recent contract. This is about three times the price before the war.

The Russians are paying $500-$600 considering the discounts for army orders, which sometimes represents more than one-third of the price. The vehicles, as I reported, are costing 3-6 times the cost of a Russian equivalent.

Why do these companies want to start negotiations and stop this profitable business? The strong lobby of Rheinmetall in the German government is also reflected by other companies in other European governments.

We have Putin expecting concessions and the Western arm companies expecting a longer war. And what about Ukraine? At this stage, Ukraine does not decide anything; they only have to enlist people and send them to the front.
The Ukrainian government and command have become some kind of managers of international aid and foreign military recommendations.

I usually say that the country loses its sovereignty when it stops having the capacity to pay its own bills. I strongly wish for Ukraine to take control and write its own destiny because the ones dying in the trenches are the Ukrainian people.

Yes, there are also Russians dying, but it doesn't matter because Ukraine is the one lacking manpower, after seven waves of mobilization. It's a catastrophe.

Some people stay on their couches asking for more fight and blood, but they do not want to pick up a Kalashnikov and fight or allow their sons to do the same.

The Ukrainian families are being destroyed, and it doesn't matter what reasons lie behind the war. Chaos has become a grim reality, and it is only a matter of time before the conflict reaches the capital and the army conscripts the sons of more people in Ukraine, including students and the sons of rich families.
