Realizing the enormous power that astronomy has to inspire curiosity and critical thinking, we at PACS e-Lab have chosen to use astronomy and space science activities to support STEM learning across Africa.
It is easy to see young learners say, "Oh, they discovered a formula," or, "Oh, they are deriving and inventing new equations." These patterns have been observed particularly among those with interests in mathematics and astrophysics.
These two fields often trigger curiosity to its fullest extent.
However, much of this work may not follow the proper scientific process. Often, students watch a few documentary videos on YouTube, carry out some calculations or investigations, and immediately feel compelled to

๐๐ญ Congratulations to all the citizen scientists who participated in the MayโJune 2026 Pan-African Asteroid Search Campaign! โจ
Your dedication to citizen science, asteroid discovery, scientific research, and collaboration continues to demonstrate the growing strength of
STEM across Africa.
The 2025/2026 academic session of our asteroid search program has officially come to an end. The 2026/2027 session will commence in August 2026. Until then, it's holiday time for our asteroid huntersโenjoy the break and celebrate your achievements!
PACS e-Lab is pleased to have connected with Emmanuel Duawo, a theoretical physicist from Sierra Leone. During our meeting, we discussed several projects through which he can engage learners in Sierra Leone in astronomy and space science. The discussion was highly productive,
indings, and contribute to international scientific efforts.
Our mission is to provide opportunities for people to engage directly in discovery, innovation, and knowledge creation. https://t.co/necjbeaoRD
We invite you to explore our publications page. We have an extensive record of publications produced by students and citizen scientists, including 15 peer-reviewed papers and numerous other scientific, educational, and STEM-related publications.
Many of the citizen scientists have also presented their work at international conferences.
This is what we do at PACS e-Lab: we transform citizen scientists from passive learners into active contributors to STEM, empowering them to participate in research, publish their f
