I have lived in Ireland as a legal Dutch-Pakistani immigrant for 23 years, contributing to this nation I call home. Last year, I was proud to receive my Irish citizenship. Over this time, I have witnessed change, but since Covid, the pace of demographic change has been unprecedented.

Many immigrants, particularly from India, are contributing in retail, tech, and public services. While this benefits our economy, the Government has utterly failed to prepare society for it.

1. No investment in integration.
2. No nationwide campaign to explain migrants’ importance.
3. No effort to support working-class Irish with housing and services.

This vacuum breeds resentment, anger, and division. Eventually immigrants become the target of hate. I, along with many others, can clearly see this change.

In recent days, we have seen horrific attacks: a young Indian man stabbed in Tallaght, an Indian chef assaulted, an Indian taxi driver attacked, and even a six-year-old girl from India told to “go home.”

This is reckless governance. The Government’s failure to lead, protect, and unite is enabling hatred to grow. Without urgent action on integration, justice, and public education, extremism will rise and Ireland will fracture further.

The wake-up call is now. 🇮🇪
