It’s been a rollercoaster 24 hours for RPD Kenai, who served with North Yorkshire Police. On Sunday evening, he was out for his evening stroll with his new family following retirement when tragedy struck. Whilst chasing his ball, Kenai fractured his elbow.

After being admitted to the emergency vets in the early hours, the Foundation arranged for Kenai to be transferred to specialist animal hospital Pennine Referrals, where surgeons operated and repaired the fracture in his leg. He now has a long road to recovery ahead.

Jess, his owner, said: “We called the charity from the emergency vets and Kieran kindly arranged for Kenai to be taken to a specialist referral centre nearby and said the Foundation would cover the costs. It’s been a huge weight off our mind. Now we can focus on getting Kenai better and helping with his long rehabilitation.”
