@AGMcCormick Having lived on the border for close on 60 years I can confirm that this is absolutely true.
All border restrictions achieved over decades was to inconvenience local communities and destroy local businesses, while simultaneously providing targets for paramilitary groups.
@SStricklandMMA Mindless thugs burning families out of their homes and destroying their own communities.
Oh and I’d say they would be absolutely thrilled to hear you calling them Irish patriots 😂
In a few weeks they’ll be burning 🇮🇪 on their bonfires.
You really should educate yourself!
@FellaKeeper3 I have lived on the border for close in six decades. The attempts to ‘secure’ it, on either side, lead only to inconvenience and misery for local communities and businesses, and was largely ineffective in terms of controlling violence.
@mairtinofaolain If you arrive in the country without appropriate documentation and/or have passed through other safe countries on the way here, it should be the first plane back to the country you arrived from.
Processing of the small number of genuine claims should be done much swiftly too.
@red_yokes 🇮🇪 in your bio.
Worried about ‘foreigners’ inflicting violence on Irish people.
And posting this about the death of multiple innocent Irish citizens at the hands of heavily armed foreigners.
Clearly in Mark Twain territory as regards any debate so ✋
@PaulWil38543502 ‘Concerned parents’ who burn families out of their homes, pelt police with stones, burn local businesses and infrastructure, intimidate medical staff going to work, threaten local businesses to close ‘by order’.
That’s not concern, it’s hate filled thuggery conducted by morons.
On the eve of the World Cup, it’s time to reminisce. The first World Cup that I remember is the 1982 World Cup in Spain. And as an 8 year-old football daft boy, I still remember my excitement when I heard BBC World Cup Grandstand play their opening credits tune - Jellicle Ball.
@GarethBurns18 Turned over as soon as I heard the panel at 12.04.
The usual voices of the extremes being amplified on BBC Radio Ulster.
Not just talkback but GMU and Nolan too.
A lot to answer for in fermenting divisions and distrust in our society.
@GBNEWS@beattie2_dougie ‘Concerned parents’ who burn families out of their homes and allow their children to throw petrol bombs and stone the police.
Yeah right!
@DarranMarshall Belfast and Northern Ireland are certainly going backwards this week, and it’s not an appealing looking future.
More of this type of thing on our streets would be a welcome development.
@JoanneEne Telling us you haven’t a clue about the realities of Northern Ireland.
Sinn Fein are clueless, and still fudging on past associations with atrocities, but the idea that the DUP have a grasp on anything other than bigotry, racism and a desire to turn the clock back, is laughable
@KevinCa02348486 The devolved assembly in Stormont has no power over immigration and Sinn Fein have never been in government in Dublin.
Criticise them by all means, I frequently do, but they aren’t responsible for anything to do with immigration in the UK (or indeed Ireland)
@TRobinsonNewEra Demonstrating your absolute ignorance of where responsibility lies. The devolved assembly has no power over immigration and ironically it was your friends in Reform who were in charge (as Tories) when the individual responsible for this attack was given leave to stay for 5 years
