“There was a time I bought a private jet worth $23 million. I thought, ‘Oh, nice. This is going to save me money and make things easier for me and my family.’ But after the purchase, once I started using it, I quickly realized how expensive it was to maintain.
The monthly expenses were costing me around $350,000, and by the following month, I knew I couldn’t keep handling those costs. I eventually decided to sell the jet back to the same company for $20 million, taking a $3 million loss.”

PRESIDENT TINUBU CALLS FOR PEACEFUL ELECTION IN OSUN STATE, CHARGES SECURITY AGENCIES TO PROTECT VOTERS AND INEC OFFICIALS
President Bola Tinubu has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies to ensure a peaceful and transparent election in Osun State.
The people of Osun State will go to the polls on Saturday, August 15, 2026, to elect their governor in an election where 15 candidates are contesting. Among them are the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and the African Democratic Congress candidate, Hon. Najeem Salaam.
President Tinubu also charged the electorate in Osun State to come out to discharge their civic responsibility and eschew any act that could disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election, while assuring the people of their safety before and after the polls.
"As the people of Osun State head to the polling units to elect who will govern them in the next four years, I call on the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure orderly conduct of the election. The election must be transparent, free and fair. I urge INEC to ensure the integrity of the process," the President said.
"INEC must use this last off-cycle election as a test case to demonstrate to Nigerians their full preparedness for the 2027 polls," he added.
“I have charged the Inspector-General of Police and other heads of security outfits taking part in the election to provide maximum security at polling units. No room should be allowed for troublemakers to disrupt the process.
"Electoral officials and voters must be protected so they can perform their civic duties without fear or intimidation.
“Voters should feel confident to go out in their numbers to vote for the candidate of their choice as all measures necessary to ensure a peaceful, free and fair election have been put in place.
"Our elections must be credible, and the outcome of the Osun Governorship election must reflect the will of the people," President Tinubu declared.

August 14, 2026
As the people of Osun State go to the polls tomorrow to elect their Governor for the next four years, I call on every institution and every citizen involved in this election to play their part in ensuring a peaceful, transparent, free and fair process.
I have directed the Inspector-General of Police and the heads of all security agencies deployed for the election to ensure the safety of voters, electoral officials and election materials. Every citizen must be able to exercise his or her right to vote without fear, intimidation or violence. There must be no room for anyone seeking to disrupt the process or undermine the peace of Osun State.
I urge the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct the election with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. Every vote must count. Every lawful vote must be properly recorded. With the 2027 general elections ahead, this final off-cycle governorship election is another opportunity for INEC to demonstrate its preparedness and strengthen public confidence in our electoral process.
To the people of Osun State, I ask you to come out in your numbers and exercise your civic responsibility peacefully. Vote for the candidate of your choice. Respect the rights of your fellow citizens to make their own choice. Elections are contests of ideas and service, and should never cost the life of any Nigerian.
The Federal Government has taken the necessary measures to support a peaceful election. Our responsibility is to protect the process and the people. The decision belongs to the people of Osun State.
Whatever that decision may be, it must be respected.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR
President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces
