This is incredible and should not be lost in all the other news. This person holds
one of the most senior jobs in government and he lied about saying this. He now apologises. 1. Saying it at all is a reflection on what this government think of the rest of this country. 2. Lying about saying it shows a total disregard for parliament and displays the cowardice of all bullies. 3. Then believing you can get away with it by suggesting you called a person not a place a shithole. WTF.

Fuck me this is all a mess. As far as I can tell nobody will try to reason with Hamas because they’re classed as terrorists and the US and UK governments won’t reason with Netanyahu. So a ceasefire is seemingly absolutely impossible to attain. What a hopeless time. Meanwhile endless scenes of death, destruction and horror.

Which we are all watching aghast and desperate to see end, whilst feel absolutely powerless. So we look to politicians. Which is like going to an empty cupboard and expecting food with the Tories. Literally, considering how many rely on foodbanks because of them. Those with power are sitting on their hands trying to score political capital. The opposition is trying to find a diplomatic and managerial solution to what is a deeply emotive and divisive overseas conflict. Which might not be the best approach. Either way it’s hypothesis isn’t it? All of it.

The grim truth is that even if the Tories who do have all the power, did decide to call for a ceasefire it doesn’t mean either side would listen or do it, in fact it’s extremely unlikely to have any effect whatsoever.

Now this is is all impacting UK politics after 13 years of Conservative hell as the country falls to bits. Modern Britain is a place in which people can barely afford to feed their kids, in which schools are at risk of collapse, no institution works, the far right is summoned to desecrate Remembrance Day by the Home Secretary and hate crimes are through the roof - for this and so much more the government alone is to blame and we need change.

This Israel Gaza conflict is a horrific situation which calls for diplomacy and peaceful solutions but the Tories are leaping at the opportunity to politicise and weaponise it, turning it not just into a culture war but into a religious race war because we essentially have the BNP in power. I wish people would focus on that, place the blame where it belongs. They’re fucking monsters and I’d wager they’re enjoying this because they need the deflection and they’re scum.

Emotions are high. How could they not be? It’s all heartbreaking and enraging in equal measure. But what can we actually do? It’s a fucking grim time.
