@BrianZisook of course, but dangling the carrot of level of investment isnt a give or take, its dictating the terms. it's basically saying - we'll spend when WE think it makes sense.

@BrianZisook What happens if it’s the other way round? They go with the label choice, spend loads of money and it doesn’t work. Artist still loses out.

@BrianZisook How is this any different to dictating to an artist? ‘We’ll do it your way but we just won’t invest as much’. Just furthers the narrative that artists make whimsical decisions. They are usually right.
