From the American pov, Manga is the word for comics made by Japanese people and published in Japan.

This discourse will always leave me baffled coz it’s ignoring a huge percentage of non-English non-Japanese speaking artists that use the visual language of manga to tell their stories.
Like what should I, a Jordanian self-published artist whose mother language is Arabic (right to left) and writes in English, call my work?
