Delhi | A case of assaulting an MCD employee had already been registered against Saheb Singh, whom Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma slapped earlier today. The assault was captured on CCTV at the time. Chief Minister Vijay-led TVK government in Tamil Nadu has exempted the Public (Law and Order) Department from the RTI Act.

A Gazette notification issued under Section 24(4) of the RTI Act has classified the department as an Intelligence and Security Organisation. This means information on communal incidents, political agitations, police custody deaths, and other law and order matters will no longer be publicly accessible through RTI applications.
