@syedrizwanmehb1 Aside from the fact that Sand Cat is a highly localised species of Western Balochistan, it looks nothing like the feline you shared above with all due respect sir. Sand Cats are pale sandy colored, short-limbed and do not have that many tail rings. We should peer review our news
We don't have many books on Pakistan's ecology. That being said, finding the published ones are not less than a challenge. These two booklets by the late Z. B. Mirza would be a bit of an academic reading I suppose but something I always looked forward too.
State Lands of the Eastern deserts and Western hilly tract of Sindh are vast areas. The natural vegetation growing there is gift of Mother Nature. It is protective shield against desertification and impacts of climate change, refuge for wildlife and camouflage of strategic importance. Coordinated steps is need of time.
Bird Alert 📷
Africa-tagged Whimbrel (code A2) has migrated from Reunion Islands off the coast of Madagascar to @urban_clifton , Karachi as of 13 July 2026.
Such urban hotspots provide shorebirds a safe place to feed, stage and revive during this trek of their migration journey.
Great news for bird lovers. Azure Tit (Cyanistes cyanus), last recorded in Pakistan 96 years ago (Photo 1)
White-winged Snowfinch (Montifringilla nivalis) (photo 2) probably recorded for the 1st time in Pakistan.
Both recorded in Broghil & Mastuj, Chitral.
Looking back at my eBird stats, I’ve yet to break into the top 20. Every bird & most birders, I’ve met in this spacetime has had a positive impact on me. Until there is air in my lungs, can't stop chasing birdsss!
Main reason to visit Abd al-Kuri was to see the endemic Sparrow which due to the island’s remoteness has been seen by very few birders. We found c.30 in the main village on the morning of 2nd day after not been able to find any the evening we arrived.A few on the hillsides later.
GOOD NEWS:
Birds of the World (@birdsoftheworld) by the @CornellBirds is now FREELY accessible to users in Pakistan. This otherwise subscription-based resource is highly recommended to birders, researchers & ornithologists to learn about 11000+ species of birds.
