I am a large autistic landmass from sometime in the Phanerozoic Eon. Naw, just kidding. I am an autistic human from the late Holocene or early Anthropocene.
What autistic cognition feels like to me: High-dimensional (i.e., multi-attribute) associative/referential idea generation post-processed w/ logical rules.
Modes that others use trend toward primary-attribute association and/or heuristic rule-based processing.
Thoughts?
@forthelongrun Here's an index of all Wikipedia topics beginning with the word Blue. Because of the way the namespace works, I think that entries on the subsequent pages are better (special characters like hyphens precede letter characters and spaces).

@forthelongrun First thought: Blue Wheels. If you can swap out the wheels on your skates for blue wheels, the name still has literal meaning even if you change your hair color.
How do you feel about double meanings (as opposed to puns)? There is a bird called the Blue Roller.
@mightbeautistic I am so sorry to hear that. I hope your break gives you the space you need. I have always appreciated your thoughtful posts. No doubt your remarks have helped many people to better understand themselves. That includes me. Thank you.
@AutieIslander I follow a few autistic people who are into bikes and have a read a few comments about how it’s good for us. As always, we come in all flavors!
@PLSSTEPONMEETHN Aphantasia. I can’t visualize. I was decades into adulthood before I realized that “visualization” isn’t a metaphor. I suppose I’m stuck on conceptualization rather than visualization. But I get the concepts. I need meta-concepts: concepts for executing on other concepts. Maybe.
@ScienceAutistic@iputahexonyou I want to follow that up by validating your perception that your environment is poorly designed for the well-being of its inhabitants/participants. *You* are not what’s broken.
For me, feelings are sometimes just *knowing* something so deeply that I can’t *not* feel it.
@ScienceAutistic@iputahexonyou I have generally felt better since acknowledging that the problem *is* the environment. I can’t change everything about it, but I can at least stop gaslighting myself, and that makes a world of difference.
Validation is strong medicine.
Has this ever happened to you? You enter a room to get something, and you remember what it was. You get it and you leave. Tell me about it!
What does it feel like? What do you do next? I think I would rip my shirt off like The Incredible Hulk.
@trippymosaic I think all of our actions will always have an effect on others. Are you getting at the idea that your responsibility is to communicate those boundaries clearly? I think that’s how a person can hold those bounds while still being respectful of others.
We deserve a world that makes sense.
If you are autistic and struggling, please know that so many other autistic people have been through that pain.
When we envision our world as a better place, we see you here with us.
There is a #suicide pandemic in the #ActuallyAutistic community that we need to talk about. We are 11x more likely to take our own lives. This is caused primarily by mental health issues that we develop based on our treatment in the NT world. We need to support each other.
