Thank you, @CSIR_IND, for supporting Indian researchers nationwide and abroad. Raising the Scientist C age limit to 35 is a positive step, but not enough! Most PhDs finish beyond 35, and other bodies allow up to 40. Experience matters—CSIR must extend the limit to 40 years!
Regarding increasing the upper age limit of Scientist C in CSIR from the existing 32 years to 35 years (which is exactly the demand of research scholars), the expert Committee constituted to review the RRs has recommended to increase the upper age limit to 35 years. The agenda has been prepared and going to be placed before the GB CSIR for approval in the next meeting of GB, CSIR.
That will address the concerns of the research scholars as submitted in their representation and make the age criteria uniform across all scientific dept/organizations.
Meanwhile, the feasibility of regularising the advertisements for recruitment accordingly is being worked out.
Modi Govt is hell-bent to kill scientific research in the country, thus hampering a nation's progress.
Scientists at top research institutions are yet to receive funds for this financial year and are forced to use their hard-earned savings to continue research.
▫️ At a time when government has promised more funding by setting up a National Research Foundation (NRF), their purchases are on hold and project staff have not been paid for three months.
Private funding is welcome, but the Govt funding should not stop.
▫️ Budget 2023 slashed the funds for scientific research by 6.87%
▫️ In 2017, the scientific community was forced to stage nationwide protests in 27 cities to register their concerns about paltry funding, fund cuts and pseudo-science propagated by the Modi Govt.
▫️ In 2015, the Modi government had asked organisations involved in scientific research to start “self-financing” projects, which meant they would have to raise their own funding for research.
Modi Govt has time and again displayed its utter disdain and contempt against encouraging scientific temper.
PM Modi might speak about - जय विज्ञान, जय अनुसन्धान - but sadly, his Govt's wishes to —
पराजय विज्ञान, पराजय अनुसन्धान !

On 30 June 2023 Indian Research Scholars raised their voice for 60% fellowship revision. Scholars are disappointed with the 19.4% hike. We didn't get any response from the @IndiaDST office so far. @guptaakhilesh63 we are trying to communicate with higher authorities for our rights. #Unacceptablehike20
#Unacceptablehike20#Revisehiketo60@IndiaDST The Government's 19.4% fellowship hike is unacceptable! Research scholars are the backbone of India's R & D ecosystem, and they deserve a 60% hike.
Join the Nationwide Institutional Peaceful Protest on June 30th to demand a fair hike. Apart from this, non-NET fellows are also getting 8000Rs/M since 2006 #NonNetFellowshipHike

Despite repeated requests, @IndiaDST Secretary has ignored our plea for a meeting to reconsider the crucial researchers fellowship hike. This neglect poses a threat to the scientific community. Appeal to Indian Research Scholars to Join us in a Nationwide Institutional Peaceful Protest on 30 June 2023 Let's stand united, demand fair fellowship hikes, and secure the future of research in India. https://t.co/7gEmVfDE4J

Dear sir @IndiaDST Secretary,@AjaySoodIISc, and @DrJitendraSingh, we urge you to reconsider the 60% fellowship hike. Our appeal has gone unanswered, leaving researchers with no choice but to go on to the streets and abandon their labs. Join us in the fight for fair fellowships! #JAI-ANUSANDHAN

@IndiaDST@guptaakhilesh63@ugc_india@mamidala90

📢 Urgent Meeting Request: Unacceptable Current Hike in Research Scholar Fellowships - Demanding 60% Increase 📢
@AIRSAIndia deeply concerned about recent fellowship hike announcement. Proposed increase falls short, demanding 60% raise to meet fair standards. @AjaySoodIISc
As research community representatives, we request prompt meeting to find mutually agreeable solution. Let's align fellowship amounts with living costs and recognize scholars' contributions. #DST eagerly await your response to schedule meetings
Too late, too less.
Wht our research scholars need is a pay structure that ensures regular increment matching with inflation (like DA), not a random hike in every few years after agitations.
Also, allocation for the running projects shd increase to match the hike.
Although some increase is better than no increase, our Ph.D. students deserve better. I hope this so-called increased fellowship will start coming every month in their respective account, similar to salaried folks.
Please pay our Ph.D. students a RESPECTABLE amount TIMELY.
@IndiaDST@DrJitendraSingh@srivaric@guptaakhilesh63 Unacceptable.... Please don't force us to come on the streets....every student from IIT ,NIT and other institutions should come forward and raise their voice against this minimum hike
