@DrJCramer@TyroneWallingha@laura_shoe_lady I honestly really dislike seeing things like 210. in questions or data tables. FWIW, I show my students an example like that because they may come across them but I also instruct them to write it in scientific notation because it is better “grammar”
The other day I called the yellow zeros “placeholder zeros” (like I always have) but then I called the blue zero a “precision zero”. My AP chem kids said that it really helped. Probably you already do this… but just in case it helps you too. #iteachchem

As part of our ongoing quest to find better ways to make MOFs for organic chemistry and chemical separations, 3rd year Tyler has found that simply combining metal (hydrate) salts and MOF linkers together at high temperatures is a surprisingly general way to make MOFs!
Today, 3 separate students contacted me to tell me about “real world” science-y things they understood because of things we learned in chemistry or biology class this year. It made my entire Friday.

Today the sun was shining, and some of my students were *Talking* to each other online, trying to make sense of their learning. It helps me remember just how wonderful this job can be. Thanks, Universe. I needed the reminder. I miss chaotic student discourse so much.
